MiniNova Celebrates 3 Years Online

Whenever anything in the P2P world lasts more than a year, it's typically cause for celebration. Considering that few file-sharing related entities stick around very long, MiniNova's
third birthday celebration today is notable. It's managed to outlive some P2P classics, such as Napster, Scour, AudioGalaxy, EliteTorrents, and many more.
It was approximately this time three years ago that Niek, the owner of MiniNova, charted into the choppy waters known as BitTorrent Administration. Administrating any indexing/tracking site is always a risky venture, as many will remember that most of the megasites of old are no longer with us. Remember ShareReactor? SuprNova? All gone, unless you consider The Pirate Bay's modern interpretation of SuprNova relevant.
After three years, MiniNova has managed to survive and prosper. According to Alexa, MiniNova.org is by far one of the most popular BitTorrent indexing websites. With a rank of 56, MiniNova.org is part of the top echelon of Internet websites, accompanied by the likes of CNet.com, Amazon.com, and eBay.com. Supporting this impressive statistic is the 586,000 torrents currently tracked by MiniNova, which places it in the same realm as ThePirateBay.
Unlike its compatriots, MiniNova has managed to stand the test of time. Most similar sites have witnessed their servers seized, their ownership sued, or their population grown disinterested. MiniNova has managed to avoid most of these entanglements. Perhaps it's because the MiniNova infrastructure and ownership remains far away from US jurisdiction, or perhaps its because MiniNova has managed to establish a respectable reputation. MiniNova has never publicly derailed the entertainment industry, purposely displayed contempt of Intellectual Property, or drawn unnecessary attention to itself. Instead, the site has quietly grown to the point it's achieved today, and according to Niek's latest blog post, it doesn't show any signs of slowing down.
Like many file-sharing related websites and networks, MiniNova just recently launched its
content distribution tool. The new tool allows content producers to immediately seed their content via the MiniNova servers. This is an impressive feature which allow anyone from the startup garage band to the established veteran to distribute their work - providing it's DRM free - throughout BitTorrent. With the massive database MiniNova provides, this free service will probably be a success with aspiring artists.
Similar to LimeWire, MiniNova's latest blog post serves as a "State of the Union". And like LimeWire, MiniNova is letting everyone know that despite what's going on in the rest of the file-sharing world, their effort is still going strong. What will happen in the next three years remains to be seen; however, in the meantime, MiniNova and everything it has to offer is still here.
