The Pirate Bay Prepares for The Simpsons Movie
June 27, 2007

There appears to be no limit to what end The Pirate Bay will go to promote themselves as the antithesis of intellectual property rights. It's no secret they are against all forms of copyright control, and see no value in conforming to the wills of Hollywood. Perhaps Fredrick Neij represented this notion best, when after The Pirate Bay restored its servers following the 2006 raids, he defiantly stated, "In your face Hollywood!"
Although The Pirate Bay has always been vocal in its defiance, it has grown more so through the years. Their comical approach began innocently enough (comparatively speaking), by posting copyright/legal notices and their humorous responses. After the raids, The Pirate Bay became more aggressive in their taunts, by introducing Hollywood defying sites such as OscarTorrents and specifically linking to HD DVD releases.
The Pirate Bay continued with its direct linking approach, usually in the form of a themed logo. The latest was a theme logo that directly linked to "Pirates of the Caribbean 3" torrents. Other theme logos have included "The Phoenix Bay" after the site's restoration, and "The Pirates of Sealand."
The latest themed logo (to be released later) is in preparation for "The Simpsons Movie", which opens July 27. The creative artwork for this latest Pirate Bay spectacle features Simpson-like caricatures of (from left to right) media relations representative Peter (brokep), administrator Gottfrid Svartholm (Anakata), and software/hardware engineer Fredrick Neij (Tiamo).
Although the film doesn't appear on The Pirate Bay just yet, the link directs itself to all Simpsons-related torrents. The latest move from The Pirate bay is in stark contrast from its American counterpart TorrentSpy, which has actively embraced the DMCA process to eliminate unauthorized content.
