Description
At dawn of May 13th 2002 a guy called Merkur was dissatisfied with the original eDonkey2000 client and was convinced he could do better. So he did. He gathered other developers around him, and eMule Project was born. Their aim was to put the client back on track where eDonkey had been famous before, adding tons of new features and a nice GUI. They couldn't imagine what impact this decision would have...

As of today, eMule is one of the biggest and most reliable peer-to-peer file sharing clients around the world. Thanks to its open source policy many developers are able to contribute to the project, making the network more efficient with each release.

Emule is wicked cool. MorphXT is better.

A very sophisticated and fair file-sharing client with many useful features.

I have tried all of the major alternatives to emule, and emule is still the best. Fast as any, more flexible, and more configurable than most. Emule is definitely a 5!!!

I wait and i wait and i wait. Still no download. everyone can get stuff from me but i still wait. Hard to navigate around and get files from.

crappy prog. poor gui and useless credit system. slow transfers, long queues, much cpu usage. i strongly don't recommend it. edonkey is far better client.

edonkey is faster and more stable .

eTurtle would be a more accurate name for this program. Your downloads will be slow but steady. It's GUI beats any other ED2K client. Kad could be the next big thing, if the eMule devs can sort out the overhead problems.
I give it a 4. It would be 5, but its just too slow.

easy to configure but still many options and controls for the advanced user.

Still remains to be the best eDonkey client. The KAD network on the program it also getting better selections of files that can speed up your downloads.

Well worth using. A good interface, highly configurable, and easy to use with a good Search facility (I have found things with it that I failed to find any other way, but not everything). Can be very fast with smaller files but larger ones may require patience at times. Not too greedy with resources, so a top-spec PC is not essential.

good for finding hard to find things....very bad for speed, i mean very bad. only for use in extreme cases like i must have that prog but i cant find it on anything else.

This is an excellent p2p app. It has more features than eDonkey and their credit system is superior to eDonkey's horde system. Much like every other p2p app that connects to the eDonkey network, eMule is not very fast but it's very efficient.

If you're looking for rare or older files, download eMule.

Every time I've used this program it's always found more sources, yet it has absolutely never downloaded faster. Every time I've given up and finished the files in eDonkey. Forget eMule's ICH it almost never works, eDonkey's crumb hashes are far superior.

A little slow on occasion but you will get what you seek!

ed2k is the premier p2p network, where you will find any file you want..
Most people on the ed2k network seem to use this app emule rather than the official edonkey2000.
Why they do is a complete mystery to me. It is full of all sorts of irelevant settings and tweaks and takes an age to actually start downloading anything.
"Ah but its open source with no adverts" they say

So what!!, Id rather have a small banner advert(which can easily be removed) in edonkey. This program usind its "horde" download system has usually finished downloading a file, while emule is still thinking about actually starting.

In summary.
If you like fiddling and tweaking, are in no hurry to get any files and say "it doesnt have a banner ad so it must be better" then emule may be for you.

If you want fast downloads edonkey wins by a mile.
