Puppy Linux and other things

Postby Hickster » Mon Sep 21, 2015 5:03 am

Hi people, I know I am pretty much unknown outside the ACS:LAW/Goldeneye/Speculative Invoicing" thread, but I thought I would venture out to ask a question, (I will presume I have the wrong place to post)

I am looking at an idiots guide on how to create my own Puppy Linux distro, this will basically be a stripped down version, even more than the normal one, and just include a browser and some security software and an office app, I know the software I want, but can for the life of me work out the actual remastering process. Is there anyone on this marvelous site, that would know of a real idiots guide?

I need real hickster-idiot guide.

Thankyou in advance.

Hickster, it's nice to see you out and about. I moved this to software discussion for you, it may get more notice this way rather than in the lounge.

Linux for the most part, is unfamiliar territory for me. Hopefully someone else will have some good helpful answers for you.

You could try this:

I'm no Linux expert either though; I merely dabble.

I did find this, although I am not sure if this is what you are looking for...

http://puppylinux.org/wikka/woof

The inspiration for woof states this:
'For a long time I have dreamt of a "magical script" that could download packages of some other distro, cut them right down to Puppy-size, then build a Puppy Linux live-CD - and do all of this totally automatically.

It also states that you choose your options.

There are tutorials provided as well, and other helpful links.

Thankyou SunnyD, and Housecrowd, I understand it is not so mainstream, but Puppy is a real cool distro. I go through the remastering within Puppy and end up with the same thing LOL. Only me, but surely not.
