John Lennon Appears In New TV Commercial

Postby wrench » Mon Dec 29, 2008 8:07 am

Story :

It may be the last thing you'd expect to see - a TV commercial starring, of all people, John Lennon. The fact that he died more than 28 years ago and that it features him speaking about a new campaign makes it almost eerie.

But those behind a charity called "One Laptop Per Child" received permission from Yoko Ono, who controls Lennon's estate. It hopes to bring solar powered cheap laptops to children in poor countries that could otherwise never afford them.

The commercial uses digital technology and an obvious impersonator to mimic Lennon and it doesn't really fool anyone - until the musician himself appears on the screen and seems to actually be saying the words.

"Imagine every child, no matter where in the world they were, could access a universe of knowledge," it begins. "They would have a chance to learn, to dream, to achieve anything they want."

Here is the link to the commercial if you wish to see it.
