Eyecandy for XP

Postby nikt » Sun May 28, 2006 1:39 pm

Not every computer user is ready to sacrifice anything in order to increase performance. Actually some of us like nice looking OS GUI.And even if you dont use any means of upgrading your visual experience while using your PC , it is good to know you could do it if you only wish.

Interested ?

If so , you may like to check some of these:

Xpize

SphereXp

Bricopacks

Vista transformation pack

Vista customization pack

Flyakiteosx

And some smaller ones :

OrbitDock (My favourite !)

RocketDock

Ubericon

Minimize

Aquadock

Uxtheme.dll patcher (for changing Windows visual styles)

And last but not least 2 really good sites for your customization needs (Wallpapers , Icons , Themes etc.)

Customize.org

Deviantart.com

While I`m slowly abandoning XP , you may find some of these links usefull (I hope)

Oh , I forgot to mention all are free

Thanks, very helpful list! when my new PC (finally) arrives, i'll probably look into making it fancy and nice rather than using all its effort to chug away running more than 3 programs at once like my current system (a low budget system 3 years ago when i brought it, now hideously slow and cant play any newish game, let alone play it well.)

That, or i'll switch to linux and be done with MS (the only MS thing i would then use would be the mouse, although i dont know if the linux club will accept me with that...)

I've got a spare PC to clog up with eye candy :D

Thanks, nice links
I know what you're thinking, punk. You're thinking, 'Did he use six superfluous adjectives or only five?' To tell the truth I forgot myself in all this excitement - but as I deal in English, the most powerful language in the world with subtle nuances that may blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel loquacious?' Well do you punk?

Thanks for the links. Good stuff!
In the 60's, people took acid to make the world weird. Now the world is weird and people take Prozac to make it normal.

YzToolbar

Yzdock

YzShadow

Samurize

Logonloader

Mobydock

Avedesk + mirror

Some free stuff from Stardock (Although they have lots of shareware apps too)

ObjectDock

CursorXP

LogonStudio

Bootskin

And here`s fine review of known customization apps & sites

Have a nice time with these :)

And if you know some good freeware application for customization of your desktop or site with resources please post it here too.

You can modify your system files resources with Resourcehacker , but dont forget to back them up first !
You`ll find all the most important files here

You can change color schemes using JasMin`s 3D Color Changer , here are some templates

Alreadey mentioned :P , but thanks to you , I realised the link was broken - problem fixed now.
Btw Litestep is really great stuff , no doubts here.

And here`s something that will eventually blow your mind 8)

Whole set of Shellpacks just like Bricopacks from the 1st post.

Here are some screens from my favourite GANT pack

In case of any problems , while navigating through french forum : just look for word Telechargement (Download)

The GANT packs are based on GANT iconsets originally made by Mattahan. He`s a really great artist and I strongly encourage you to check out more of his artworks. His homepage is here , but most of his art is located on Deviantart forums , so just search for it there.

Here are some examples of his superb icons at work:

Have fun :)

Oh yes , a word of warning :!: Avoid Themexp.org site , they have a lots of themes and other stuff but they`re bundled with spyware.

StyleXP is totally obsolete , you can use free Bootskin to change your bootskin and Uxtheme.dll patcher to apply new styles.
Why pay for something utterly worthless (or pirate it) when you have free alternatives ?

Pre-patched Uxtheme Libraries
These infamous pre-patched libraries give users the ability to easily bypass Microsoft's Msstyle Digital Signature checking without the use of any third party bloatware (e.g. TGTSoft's StyleXP)

I found some free stuff from Stardock & Alienware , some desktop suites - if you want to download them you have to give your email first.

For those who do not like the idea here are some direct links :

Invader Suite

Theme Manager (needed to operate the whole thing)

Invader Winamp Skin

After you get 1 theme with manager , you can download 3 others also for free.

I must say , I dont like Alienware style (or size :P ) but maybe someone will.
