Odd HJ Split Problem

Postby Mr. Plow » Wed Mar 22, 2006 3:45 pm

I recently acquired a large file broken into 121 44.9 Meg files. I ran them through my QuickPar & they came out OK, but when I try to join them with HJSplit, I keep getting an 'I.O Error 112' message. Has anybody ever gotten this error message with HJSplit & what can I do about it. The files took a long time to DL & I don't want to just write them off if I don't have to. For the record, HJSplit producees an Rar file that WinRar can't open (Why anyone would HJSplit an Rar file of a movie, I don't know).

One possible reason - from MSDN:

ERROR_DISK_FULL = 112
There is not enough space on the disk.

Remember that to join a set of split files, you need as much free space again as the size of the current set of files, as the splits are not normally removed in the process by most tools.

I D/L files sw4tdccde.7z.001 ~ sw4tdccde.7z.121, ran them through QuickPar (OK), and opened up .001 in HJSplit. Hj runs for a while & spits out 'I/O Error 112', but continues to run, producing file sw4tdccde.7z.rar. WinRar will not open or repair sw4tdccde.7z.rar.

Also, HJSplit Pro gives me a different error (Integer Overflow), and won't even begin the join.

This shouldn't be a problem as the file is only about 6Gb, and I have about 50 Gb free on my HD.

try a program called 7zip.....get it from sourceforge.

the 7z part of the filename makes me think it will open it for you.

Is it possible that HJSplit only works on files under 4Gb in size?

That's a possibility. It craps out at 4,194,304k. Is there another program out there that is comparable to HJSplit that will handle larger files?

As Gausselimination says:
sw4tdccde.7z.001

is a 7 zip file. It is similar to Winrar's .r00, .r01 etc

http://www.7-zip.org/

It has not been split with HJsplit

Are you running XP with NTFS formatted drive? If you are then HJsplit should work fine, but if your drive is formatted FAT32, then a 4.1gb file is the limit that you can store without splitting it.

You are Da Man(or woman, I don't know). CPU HD is NTFS, but External drive I hold all my movies & Mp3s on is Fat32. I moved the HJ files to main HD & it worked great. The product is a 7-zip file, but I got it opened just fine. Big thanks to all for your help.

I've got a similar problem. I have a movie file that is 4.7 gig in size. I want to put it on my clean 16gig flash drive. It won't directly transfer because of size. So I split into 4 files and transferred. Then I tried to join and I get the 112 error at 59% every time. any way to get this onto my flash drive?

This is an old thread, but you're question is relavent. The flash drive is most likely formatted as a FAT32 partition. You need to reformat with NTFS or exFAT, Depending on where you are taking the flash drive.

See here for more info, http://www.howtogeek.com/73178/what-fil ... usb-drive/
