Family Guy: The Leak Story

Postby Malicious Intent » Mon Jul 25, 2005 5:26 pm

The movie studios received one of their biggest blows today with the news that a high quality copy of the Family Guy movie is spreading rapidly around P2P networks, months before its home theater release.

According to the information file published by the release group Angelic Evolution, the movie has been ripped from an “exclusive DVD premiere.”

The film, based on the TV series “Family Guy”, is not due for release until late September.

Titled Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story!, the movie follows Stewie, the family’s maniacal baby genius, who sets out on a road trip to find who he believes to be his real father.

The release comes despite the studios successful campaign for increasingly draconian copyright protection laws and high profile arrests, leaving the industry and spectators with the questions as to how much can really be done to stop movie leaks.

this movie was quite a let down, watched it earlier. basically 1:30 of crappy family guy episodes stuck together. There were some funny bits but overall no where near as good as some of the best episodes

Is this for real or a PR scam?

The Family Guy was cancelled. The only reason it is on TV is that the show sold lots of DVD's.

If the movie is released early, it is just like all those DVD's of the old TV show stirring up more popularity for the Family Guy.

good question... 2 months early is kind of odd... especially for such a good quality release

it could be a ploy to drum up more sales when the dvd does come out..

but this early and you gotta wonder if it will sell at all.. since the people who really wanted to watch... have seen it already..

or maybe they know it wont sell well.. and have done this so they can point to the pirates and blame all the low sales on them.

The US government is too damn retarded to see that is a big stunt played out by the industry itself. If the leak was not posted in the first place on P2P networks, then filesharing addicts like us would not have access to it in the first place. So you have to ask the government this question: Who is the biggest scam artist in the US the p2p user or the industry itself. I'd have to vote for the 2nd one. And naturally sales for Family Guy will be low and this will be all over CNN news and the files will be used to track illegal sharing of Movies. This could be a great file to use as a reference for Peer Guardian and other blockers of the Mpaa and RIAA. I sure hope someone in say India does this and we'll find out who the scanning bots are. We could have the same file posted on several honeypots to see if the same IP grabs this from more than one source. If so it goes to a blacklist file. So lets work on this folks I see something fishey about this one.

Well, they did put a joke in at the beggining of the show about bootlegging movies. Guess someone on the staff decided to take the joke a little farther.

It's a damn good copy and a damn funny movie.

But please for the love of god people buy this one, seth mcfarlane needs all the support he can get. Just think of how many times family guy has gone of the air only to be brought back due to it's magnificent dvd sales. If the sales come out shiatty they'll not only have an excuse to cancel it again, but it would also give them more fodder to bash p2p. Which makes one think that it may just have been realesed on purpose.(A lot of high up types hate family guy)So buy it, make it the greatest selling dvd of to date...then watch em all STFU!

A person can watch the show Family Guy and sign about how low society has sunk that such a stinkball can have enough viewers to stay in business. On a positive note, straight-to-video means society isn't bad enough to support this garbage in a theater.
