it does the same thing windows update and the built in autoupdater service does.

the only unique part is the addons. if you use any of those.

can't help unless you get more specific.

Those BSODs have specific information that you *have* to haveto troubleshoot the error.

Just to give you an idea, 0xabcdefgh is a *lot* of different error numbers taht can be generated (theoretically, only about 4,294,967,296 differnet numbers), so jsut saying you got a blue screen doesn't help any at all.

Also, the error message can be saying that you have a corrupted install, or that you are in actuality missing some critical part of an update that is installed.

Again, like I have said in the past, your request is analogous to calling a mechanic (who can't physically see your car) and asking him over the phone what makes a noise that goes "Rrrrr, sssssssK SSSSSSSK rrrr"....

probably a bad download - I see this a lot with invalid downloaded executables.

I wish more sites ( well, really, *all* friggin sites) would institute the practice of having MD5 hash / sig files so users can immediately verify if the file downloaded is valid or not...

Of course, I could be way off base, since I have never used it myself....

I just friggin go to Windows Update my own gd self...

Unless I am missing the scope of the project....

If the patch dosn't work then you should try googling for for "VLKEY" it validates the serial number so you can install all the updates from microsoft:) don't quote me but im sure it only works for SP1, :?:
If you can't find it and are really stuck then pm me and i'll sort you it out:D

If you get a blue screen and you are running XP. You more than likely have a hardware problem on your PC. If you say things freeze up than I would definately start looking at my hardware and devices very closely.

The problem could be anything from a hard drive with a bad sector to a cable being loose or connected wrong or maybe you have a jumper set wrong on a hard drive or CD/DVD. It could be any number of things.
You have to start isolating. I would start with the last devise you or somebody else installed.

Run AutoPatcher only from THE 'Administrator' account and it will work OK.

I use this application on all my PCs, it's great.

Well, seeing as AutoPatcher XP is no more, perhaps this sticky should be unstuck :(
Ross Wheeler, CEO of Albury.net.au, referring to the Australian Governments internet filtering plan wrote:"It's the most ill-conceived pile of stupidity by the biggest bunch of cretins that I've ever seen in my life"
