Ad-Blocker

Postby sarahjo » Fri Jun 02, 2017 3:16 am

Is it possible to stay safe from viruses and malware if i use an Ad-Blocker. What i have heard is that these ads do carry some sort of malware in them that infect your system.

Ad-blocker / virus protection is like an insect repellent, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Insect_repellent. It helps, but its not going to do anything when you rub the nest of wasps all over your body.

Don't visit scummy sites, and click/run sources you don't have trust in. If in doubt, maybe ask around, see if someone else has experience with a particular case.

Some are more reputable than others. I trust uBlock Origin no matter what, works great against all types of ads and afaik isn't some kind of malware. Though maybe I should do some more research into it.

Holy necro Batman!
In the 60's, people took acid to make the world weird. Now the world is weird and people take Prozac to make it normal.
