What you see is diversification of media distribution.. lots of streaming video & music/audio sites to choose from. You can even find cable-tv channels ($ubscription) availble online incluidng cnn, hbo, etc. Torrents aren't going anywhere.. but you might see stepped up enforcement by ISPs.. but this will kill the loyal cash cow paying customers. Dobtful that the riaa/mpaa will make up that lost revenue.. so it's a huge catch-22 for them.. time will tell how it plays out..

No. There are no free services with good retention. If there were the premium providers would have disappeared a long time ago.

What part of the English language you don't understand? Seriously.

When I say free it's free.

When I say shareware that has trials then we will about trials.

When I say let's go paid then we can discuss paid options.

Also, it seems like I can't get answers to other alternatives to Usenet either?

"free is free".

you have been given several suggestions on this thread, but apparently that's not good enough. you want a free usenet provider with unlimited retention, when there is no PAY usenet provider with unlimited retention. you say ok, 1000 days - but u will never find anything remotely close for free. u get pissed at grym for pointing out u get what u pay for - yet u continue to expect something magical for nothing.

people have suggested at least 3 methods other than usenet. apparently none of them are good enough for you. the whole point of this thread is that BT is not a good choice for you. i am coming to the conclusion that nothing is going to satisfy you.

i know of no free safe method to get all the copyrighted material you want quickly and easily. sorry. every method has both strengths and weaknesses, and you are absolutely NOT going to find anything without weaknesses for free.

Fred,

I am very sorry. Will you please forgive and accept my kindly apology?

The reason why I'm not satisfy with BT anymore is because of privacy, and I'm paranoid of being busted. I live in the US, and don't want to be busted. I also heard there something in July called a crackdown. I'm not really sure what that is about, and I'm also not sure if it's true. It's because I am paranoid, so that is why I don't want BT anymore. Would there be free privacy methods for BT to protect from being busted. I heard VPNs would be the way to go? I also heard free VPNs people don't recommend, so everyone recommends paid VPNs? I'm not sure what other options are there to keep BT?

Are you able to assist, or give info, Fred?

apology accepted. free filesharing solutions, just like getting help on a message board, go better with patience.

i don't use a vpn, free or pay. i have no suggestion there.

I use SwissVPN and have done for several years.

They're not free, but very cheap - just 6 Swiss Francs per month (a little over 6USD I believe) and you can pay on a month-by-month basis (non-recurring billing) if you wish.

I can recommend Swiss for speed and reliability (Speeds are ok, topping out at around 10Mb/s) but anonymity is of course a more complex matter with many factors such as your own computer security, what you use the VPN for and of course to what extent you can 'trust' the VPN service. There's no guarantees but a VPN is probably better than no VPN (as long as the VPN isn't owned/controlled by the very people you're 'hiding' from of course).
There are 10 types of people in the World; those who understand binary, and those who do not.

i mean you have exhibited a LOT of impatience here. when you ask for help on a message board, you need to be patient. not everyone who is capable of answering your question(s) is going to be sitting around waiting for you to post so they can answer immediately. when you allow yourself to become frustrated, and take those frustrations out on the people who are helping you, all you are likely to do is to cause some or all of those people to say screw it, i don't need to be bitched at by this guy, he can find help somewhere else.

and when you want to download things for free, you had better be patient as well. there is no free and safe filesharing method i am aware of that you can fire up and use to find everything you're looking for immediately without any effort. the ONLY way i am aware of that will allow you to get whatever you want right away, whenever you want it, requires paying for it.

it seems like you want everything fast, safe, and free. that's just not going to happen. learn to be patient.
