My personal preference is Nero for music, movies, iso, pictures, etc. I use it for editing songs, I cross fade tracks on a CD for music, cut off the wasted time at the beginning or end of a music track etc. I have used Nero for years, it uses a lot of resources, but of any programs I tried, I always liked Nero the best. I really like how Nero allows you to edit the music if you choose to do so (remove parts, fade in ends, beginnings, splice, etc.) You can remove crackling noises, you can change volume, enhance effects, and yes, many other programs do the same, but I find Nero does a great job (better than many others) for any thing I do with it. Nero has great online help manuals also. I use Nero photoshop for pictures as well. Everything in one program, I like that. Nero does a great job also of encoding. Nero plug-in packs are all out there on p2p to be found, and you need no extra codecs other than that.
deja-vu
am doing exactly the same thing-i stopped at nero7-was good enough,i like the winavi options menu also
just to add-some soft might not work well because of some conflict between them, there is like
an order to build yur os.also if someone is more familiar with one soft instead of another it a factor also.
also the dvd players you have at home, they are the ones deciding, like for example i have 2 different jvc
and they cant read properly anything that convertxtodvd will do.but no problem with nero.the same
with mp3 dvd-done by nero-i guess in my case my jvc dvd players took the final decision.
for codecs use the cccp package,(combine community codec package)-from audio to bluray it is rock solid.
