Wolfram Alpha is a natural search engine, which filters information and data stored in its own vast databases to answer specific search queries, such as the GDP of Mexico, or a list of English counties. The aim is to return a single search result with the right answer, rather than a list of thousands of web pages which may or may not contain the information needed, as is the case with other search engines, like Yahoo! and Google.

They honestly think people will want 1 search result or answer returned? Even if it does give the information you were looking for, choice does not hurt in this field.

http://www.wolframalpha.com online earlier than scheduled.

Tested some questions:
Q: how much fat in an egg
A: 4.2grams

Q: 1 + 2
A: 3

Q: what is the meaning of life?
A: 42 (according to Douglas Adams' Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy)

Also just put in my name and its showed my name rank in the US, a graph that showed what year my name was most popular, how many people with my name are alive today, etc, etc.

This isn't a replacement for google or other search engines, this is just a new system that has its own uses and yes I do believe sometimes people want one true result answer instead of 100's of fake ones who just added a extra search tag so they could get more hits.
