I agree. It got mostly ignored when it was released, but i thought it was a good film. And anything with lovely Scarlett in already jumps about 6 points in my rating. :loveyou:

It's pretty terrible actually.. a 1/10 or lower if possible. It's a live action...yes LIVE ACTION coyote and roadrunner style...all the gags they pull in the cartoon - is DIRECTLY INJECTED into this movie, and is just plain terrible.

Paint a hole on the side of a mountain and jump in...and the guy behind smacks the wall...ya.

Movie: Expelled
Director: Nathan Frankowski
Writers (WGA):
Kevin Miller (written by) and Ben Stein (written by)
Release Date: 18 April 2008 (USA) more
Genre: Documentary more
Tagline: Big science has expelled smart new ideas from the classroom...What they forgot is that every generation has its Rebel!

I rate this movie 2 out of 10.... it get's the 2 only because it was very well filmed and it's a very good example of how
to make a documentary... Make use of scary music, get well known people with degrees to promote your point of view.
Use black and white old footage because it's scary also as often as possible try to use circular logic tricks to try to
make the villains of your film look villainous.

If all that that fails just call the people who are against your point of view Nazis, that always works.

What the hell Bin Stine, what the hell.

Movie: Bangkok Dangerous 2008

This film sucks... 2 out of 10.... dull, dull, stupid, stupid.
If you want to see a good film about an assassin get
the move Leon. " 9 out 10 the movie is also called the professional.
it does not get a 10 out of 10 only because it's a dark film and I like love rather than blood.
So it's a personal taste thing. but it's still a great film.

Speaking of good films, i just saw a terrible one in which the memory of Indiana Jones was shat on. In fact i refuse to acknowledge it as an indy film Lets just call is "George Lucus and the kingdom of the crystal skull". 2/10

Ah the crystal skull.... that film give's me a sad face..
I won't blame the hype for making the film suck... I'll blame the writers for going off in the weeds...

that film was not so much written as it was just a grab bag of bad action sequences.
Oh ya and space aliens what the hell George what the hell...
Oh well there still is the first and the third movie.. I'll remember those with fondness.

The books are better, in fact in Hannibal the descriptions of Italy were just beautiful...the upside of books as well is that you can flick through the gory bits :D

Indeed...I saw that and was like WTF!!! Some of the stuff was pretty gory, but in the end - it...ya, not one I would recommend. Not to mention if I wanted to read, I'd read a book - ditch those subtitles!

I watched "Gran Torino" last night
Directed by Clint Eastwood, starring Clint Eastwood, Christopher Carley & Bee Vang
(Dec. 2008 Release) imo, an excellent movie and Clint is superb in his role

Watched "8 Crazy Nights" a couple times over the holidays...

9/10

Damn funny stuff, it would get 10/10 but it's the typical Adam Sandler "moron at the beginning, saves the world at the end" type, that's he's known for - the rest of the movie more than makes up for that though...it's one of my Christmas Classic's.

Defiance

Its Red Dawn meets Schindler's List.

7/10

A good story that I didn't know about before. The acting was average, action was good, and the cinematography very good.

Saw Revolutionary Road over the weekend. Excellent flick.

8.5/10

Sam Mendes Directed. It felt in a lot of ways like American Beauty. A tale of how suburbia, family like, and the job, seldom lead to the American Dream. Darker though, with even better performances. I think DeCaprio and Winslet are going to be tough to beat for the lead Oscars.

Though I doubt Yates would be happy with the adaptation of his American classic, I cannot imagine a better attempt.

edit:

TSOTL:............. Very good flick. Jody foster's best performance since taxi driver. I'm cool with 7 of 10, but i'm not cool saying overrated..............

You want the best "Lecter" movie? you need to see Manhunter

you're cool with 7/10 but not with overrated? don't you think it's overrating a 7 star movie to name it the best picture of the year? sounds like a really weak year

ps: ty for the recommendation, but no thanks. i don't find lecter (lector?) particularly compelling.

Yep totally weak year, its best competition was "the prince of tides".................. come on, weak chic flick, 5.5 of 10 on its best day. Next closest was "beauty and the beast" i think. The Fisher King was the best movie of the year imo, and it wasn't even nominated.............

I'd personally give TSOTLs 8 of 10, but I respect your 7 of ten rating, I just don't think I've ever heard of it being overated, thats all.

MrFredPFL wrote:ps: ty for the recommendation, but no thanks. i don't find lecter (lector?) particularly compelling.

Should not of said a "Lector movie", should of said a great thriller. Actually, the lecter character is in it for only a few minutes...............check it out!
