Your comments on apocalypse now remind me of another overrated film. Saving Private Ryan. The beach landing scene is without doubt the best war scene ever put into film, but after that the film becomes quite forgettable IMO.

hey, i'm a big fan of guns and explosions too. now that you mention it, the chaingun in the helicopter was probably the high point of this film for me ;)

one thing i am NOT a fan of is choreographed martial arts between people who irl would be doing well to kick their way out of a wet cardboard box.

i'll recommend two films that are a bit obscure, for the shooting. zulu (1964, stanley baker and michael caine) and the gauntlet (1977, clint eastwood and sondra locke)

edit: couldn't agree more on ryan, FB.

I'm the kind of guy that likes "Shoot 'em Up" No plot...atleast none that I could find, really. Terrible effects and horrible acting...but I enjoyed the over use of guns for everything. Reminded me of the Simpsons episode where Homer was using his gun for everything, even turning the TV off and on.

The sweetest thing

I would love a lifestyle and friends like that.
A fun movie but a corny ending...If I were the Cameron diaz character I would have stayed single :D

Film: Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back
Rating: 10/10
Better than 'A New Hope', and several orders of magnitude better than any of the other SW films. Its difficult to pick my favourite quote from this movie, today im going with:

Vader: I am altering the deal. Pray I don't alter it any further. </complete badassery>
Vader is basically the most bad ass motherfucker in film history (well until half way through RotJ when he becomes a total pussy), and that line pretty much sums it up.

I can't figure out why everybody likes this movie so much; to me it's just your run-of-the-mill B-grade action movie.

there's a fairly short list i've had of movies with strong reputations that i've never gotten around to seeing, and wanted to. a few of them have turned out to be major disappointments. this one wasn't.

Film: Straw Dogs
Director: Sam Peckinpah
Year: 1971
Starring: Dustin Hoffman, Susan George
Genre: Drama, Suspense

i didn't even know hoffman was in this. lol was quite surprised when i saw it. i wasn't sure what to expect, as this was peckinpah's first non-western. this is a brutal and brilliant film with two very different storylines.

I had high hopes for Z'n'M but yea, it was just another of the thousands of teen comedies starring seth rogen and some hot chick. Im a huge Kevin Smith fan, but this didnt feel at all like a Kevin Smith Film, it was as if someone made it and then paid Kevin to put his name on it to sell a few more tickets.

All I can say is this film was better than number 2 but then again it was the same story.
except the bomb was on people arm rather than on the car.

Save your bucks, save your disk space.. give this movie a pass. I would give it a 6 out of 10 and thats only because it was
better than the last one. Give it up guys... I really don't need to see a Transporter 4.

If you want to see a film with good driving and good cars... get yourself a copy of "Ronin". 9 out of 10...

i'm still a bit puzzled why someone would call something a "run-of-the-mill B-grade action movie" and still rate it 7 out of 10 ;)

Lord of War
Very good film. Im a big Nicholas Cage fan, its a shame he tends to mix the great films Like this, conair, gone in 60 seconds, raising arizona with very average films throughot his career.
But he is a damn good actor, and this particular film gets bonus points for having Jared leto (whiny emo that my ex fantasized about when having the misfortune of being with me) get shot. Any film with that in is good in my books.

Movie: Cat People
Starring: Nastassja Kinski, Malcolm McDowell, John Heard, Annette O'Toole
Director: Paul Schrader
Year: 1982
Genre: Suspense, Horror

this film surprised me, i wasn't expecting anything special. instead, i discovered a brilliantly photographed film which tells a good story in a subtle, understated way. it grew on me as i watched it, and by the time it was finished, i was very happy i had. this is a damn good film, and the casting is great. malcolm mcdowell (a clockwork orange) excels in playing creepy characters, and if ever any actor was born for a role, it's nastassja in this movie. absolutely perfectly cast. no one could have served this role better.

Babylon A.D
Must admit i wasnt paying too much attention to it, but from what i gathered it was basically vin Diesel trying to be Riddick (pitch black, chronicles of riddick) and that girl he was with was trying to be River from Firefly / Serenity.
Basically anything that you might like in this film has already been done in at least half a dozen other recent films, usually done better as well.
