Software caused connection abort

Postby 01042 » Tue Nov 21, 2006 1:05 pm

Lately, I've been having trouble downloading stuff. The connections just seem to drop.

Lets say im downloading AVG, as that downloads i try downloading zonealarm, the zonealarm fails to connect then exits and takes the AVG with it. So , one connection affects others.

Also, I've found after leaving the pc on over night i am disconnected from all channels "*Disconnected". This didnt happen before, everything was perfect, i could schedule several downloads and they would all complete

now i struggle to make one successful download. The rest just sit there until i request again.

I am using the XDCC browser. Has anyone experienced the same issues?

I am considering using Usenet infuture. How do you download using Usenet? Is it as simple as click click download as with XDCC browser? Can anyone give me a good cheap one i can try out with paypal from UK

Also, is the content on Usenet better than irc? Is there more stuff? Im finding the content on irc minimal to the latest stuff and maybe some very pouplar files.

I can't help but recommend Usenet over irc for files.
Irc is just effectively just an ftp site.
So you have to wait in line to get the file your looking for.
Thats if you can get in the file download que at all.
I also I'm not fond of all the fighting and spastic people on irc.
I'm there for the files not for the attitude.
Usenet is fast.
I can get speed as high as 3mb from my providers.
I doubt that you've seen those type of speed from IRC.
There is as slight learning curb but once your beyond that. It's full speed ahead.
I also recommend that your use nzb sites there wonderful.
They save you from having do download headers and search for files.
It's just a click and forget.
Usenet is a lot more secure for downloading as it directly off the Usenet server to you.
No evil third party (unless they own the server) can see what your downloading.

As for your abort thing I have no Idea I've never seen anything like it.
You didn't download and install any of these hack irc client scrips. 90% of those are hack attracts.
from these would-be l33t haxor types.

IRC's always been problematic for me too. Downloads that stall and never complete, disconnections, file corruption, etc.
