KCeasy

Postby Radar » Sun May 16, 2004 10:17 pm

How come there is little mention of KCeasy in the forums? I use KCeasy and get very good results.

Good point!

I don't use it often, but for individual MP3s, and other small files that I can't find on the eDonkey network, KCEasy is now my first choice.

KCeasy?

Postby moculon » Mon May 17, 2004 4:34 am

am i correct that kceasy connects to the fasttrack network?

it does pop up in occasional discussions but is not prominently listed. i think the popularity of the klitetools fasttrack client on these forums at the moment may be the reason.

are there any reasons why one should switch given the range of features in the klitetools k++ release?

They were forced to remove the fasttrack plug-in. However, if you install version 0.11 (the last version to include FT) first, and then install the latest version over the top of it, it retains the FT connect-ability.

I'm not sure there are any strong reasons to use KCEasy of K Lite at the moment, other than its multi-network search capabilities. However, the interface is refreshingly uncluttered and straight-forwardly simple, and it's under constant development/improvement.

To me, the multi-network searching is the biggest factor to use KCeasy. FastTrack and Gnutella are both big networks with immense amounts of content. Fasttrack may be much bigger but Gnutella is still a vauable source. Also openFT is still small but, it's gotta get off the ground some how.

openFT is a small network right now, but it seems like a better system than Fasttrack and Gnutella. Whenever I manage to find a file that I want on openFT, it always downloads faster, even when downloading from one user.

That's because the people that use giFT apps have taken the time to visit P2P sites and probably know what they're doing.

DId anyone notice the new Fasttrack Icon/Logo? Why would the developer create a new one if he was supposed to remove Remove FastTrack from his client? I guess he did the minimum required of him to satisfy the request hehe.

open ft is pretty good . gets me the file faster than g1 . im starting to dislike g1 a lot .

also , the fast track netowrk is still good for me with music vids and tv shows etc.

open ft works well for mp3's etc.

What is G1?

KCeasy 0.11 is supposed to be good in theory, but again, like WinMX, it turns out to be the Leonardo di Caprio of filesharers, an impotent one. Promises a lot but in the end it don't deliver.

Anyway, other than the multi network option of course the MULTI SEARCH option is THE reason to use Kceasy. I really like to search for more than one file at the same time.
Unfortunately, i don't get results with this app, not like the Fasttrack results i get with KLR 0.76. Also, KC easy seriously fucks up my internetting ability: Firefox, IE, NS, and Moz, don't browse any more if i use KCeasy....

It seems to be the best single solution for finding music, as it connects to all the largest networks for music; FT, G1, Ares.

If it had cross-network swarming that would be even more fantastic.

I believe it does swarm.I'm sure I've seen files coming on Fasttrack and Gnutella at the same time.

KCeasy dosn't get a whole lot of press. It could have its own section here.
It certainly deserves it more than Kazaa.

From what I gather, it does swarm between some networks (G1 and Ares), but FT is not one of them.

Hopefully it may be implemented in the future.

i'm using KCeasy just recently, that plugin really works well, since I'm able too see all four networks. Which is cool for me, since Ares don't work on Win95, so that sucks but is cool now. It takes a bit of time but after some minutes there's XS 2 to all networks.
Clean interface. I somehow do get better results with Shareaza.

I use this too. Since it is stable and is out of the limelight, may it stay under the radar of a lot of chatter. :idea:

Eep! I would not say that it is completely stable, or at least not all of it is. (my Ares plugin just broke)

Hopefully later versions will increase reliability.

What was the error?
[code:1]char str[20];
scanf("%19s", &str);
if (!strcmpi(str, "Hello, world!"))
printf("Hello, programmer.\n");[/code:1]

Kceasy is stable with me, but then, I run Win95 ... ;)
seriously, I get Ares at 900.000 users, Gnutella at 875.000, FT at 2,5 mill. and openFT at 14.000.

I just can not upload for some reason. my library isn't filled too.

You've gotta wait for it to finish hashing before the library becomes full.
[code:1]char str[20];
scanf("%19s", &str);
if (!strcmpi(str, "Hello, world!"))
printf("Hello, programmer.\n");[/code:1]

It says "protocol error" while trying to connect to ares nodes, and when all have failed it just says "ran out of nodes".

Even when it was working I could search the Ares network, but any downloads met with "protocol error".
