My post is inaccesible?

Postby gangstarr » Tue Sep 05, 2006 8:18 am

I made a post in the hardware section yesterday and now for some reason i can get in it but it's like theres no post there-all i get is the slyck guide and slyck forum info that's at the top of the page.

I can access all the other posts but for some reason but not this one.I've tried on 2 computers about 8 times

Any suggestions?

The post is the one about pci-e graphics cards

Thanks

That is very bizarre :/

Here's the link - and it won't load for me either

I know what you're thinking, punk. You're thinking, 'Did he use six superfluous adjectives or only five?' To tell the truth I forgot myself in all this excitement - but as I deal in English, the most powerful language in the world with subtle nuances that may blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel loquacious?' Well do you punk?

It's so random!

If anyone can access it would you please let me know.

Worst comes to worst i'll post again but I don't want to double post if it becomes accessible later on

Thanks

I've seen this happen on a few phpBB boards (albeit only two or three times total). Sometimes the board just whacks out, won't read the thread.

I would just get a mod to delete that thread and you can post it again. I doubt that thread will fix itself, and in the meantime it isn't doing you any good.

All in all, very weird.

The thread can't be deleted without going into the database because it can't be viewed. So i'd do what Myrak suggested and post the thread again. Sorry for the inconvenience

Ah! So that's the page that wouldn't load!

I also noticed a blank page earlier in my tabs, but forgot to check which one it was.

Very odd :?

Something got messed up within the PHP scripts. As one can easily see, the thread is currently unviewable, but I was able to reply to it.

Before deleting the thread, I'd be curious why it's unviewable. Perhaps one of the mods can backtrack to the cause, not that it's important though. But my guess is that either an incoming stream of data wasn't parsed correctly, or as someone else said, the script just F's up once in a great while. There's nothing else I can really think of.

i'm very curious as to exactly what steps you took to reply to a thread you could not view, artie :?

Fred, I'll tell you, but don't tell anyone else, ok? Thx!

The first thing I did was exploit the phpBB through use of the "l=p query string" hole. That allows me to view and modify every single thread on this board from the admin/index.php directory. Then, after that, I cover my tracks by...

Actually, no, just kidding. I wish I was that smart though. All I did was do a little JavaScript manipulation to reply to that one unviewable thread. I only wanted to see if it was possible. Any 12-year-old could basically do it with just a little bit of JS knowledge.

To be really fair, you should first check to see if he weighs the same as a duck...

It was probably ghosts. I blame everything I don't understand in technology on Ghosts. It's the reason I can't get some of the CSS I'm working on to render properly in IE.

Ghosts.

He does float. Because he's made of wood

Sometimes when there are certain characters or a combination of characters in a post the board won't accept the post. And then when the phpBB software is updated those problems can go away. Is the board running phpBB 2.0.21? Too bad it doesn't say on phpBB boards what version it is running.

Pffff. I don't think there's such things as a male witch. :)

I think they're called sorcerers or something.
