Free Personal Firewalls

Postby OhMyGod » Sun Jan 22, 2006 7:06 pm

Since many free Personal Firewalls are no longer available like Sygate and Kerio, which have been bought by other companies, many may wonder where you still can get a free Personal Firewall. Here is a list.

AS3 Free Personal Firewall

Comodo Free Personal Firewall

Filseclab Free Personal Firewall Professional Edition

Jetico Free Personal Firewall

Agnitum Outpost Free Personal Firewall

SoftPerfect Free Personal Firewall

Zone Alarm Free Personal Firewall

Thanks. :D

To add to your list: Tiny Personal Firewall (This firewall is very much for the technical user, and is not recommended for those who have no prior knowledge on how to properly configure and use a firewall.)

Smoothwall (for use if you have a spare PC to use as a hardware firewall)

and Comodo. (I have not personally tried this firewall, but their corporate site should give you more information, I am sure you can all Google for reviews on your own.)

Here is a good list of firewalls if anyone cares to browse: Firewallguide

And the obligatory Wikipedia article on firewall software: WikiPersonalFirewalls

OSS Firewalls For Windows: OSS Win Firewalls

Tiny Personal Firewall is only a 30 day trialware.
They no longer have a free version.

Kerio Personall Firewall is still available, it has just been sold and rebranded into Sunbelt Kerio Personall Firewall. Same software, different owner.

There is a pay version and a free version. The free version only lacks some cookie blockers and other mostly useless features. You get the full version for 30 days after which you either pay or revert to the free version.

Actually Comodo is one of the best freeware firewalls, I run it on my other computer and I like it better than any others that I tried except for Sygate which I run on my main pc too bad Norton bought them out.

Thanks. :D

So, does it suck or rule? You seem to tend to follow the crowd way too much.
