This has been requested more times than notbob's flamed DaBlade.

And much like DaBlade, the FastTrack forums never went away. :(

It's information and even if fasttrack does suxs.
untill the service dies, In my humble opinion the form should stay.
Even if its only to keep the rest of your site being flooed with fasttrack questions.
When and if they go dark.

If this part of the forum disappears, we could be in big trouble. When Kazaa goes to the big file-sharing place in the sky, all of its previous users will come to Slyck. From the front page they will be scanned, stamped and otherwise processed and warped through time and space directly to this part of the forum. If we remove it, we could be indirectly responsible for exposing them to a lifetime of purgatory. That's something i'd rather not have on my conscience. I want nothing to do with it.
I know what you're thinking, punk. You're thinking, 'Did he use six superfluous adjectives or only five?' To tell the truth I forgot myself in all this excitement - but as I deal in English, the most powerful language in the world with subtle nuances that may blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel loquacious?' Well do you punk?

Let's hope not. Then the UseNeXT shills will surely follow - they'll all be working overtime spamming the boards, trying to scoop up as many live ones as possible. It'll be just like the Earth Station 5 days all over again

Then why do we need a Fasttrack forum? It's not even that big anymore.

Hmm.. tempting, but I don't want to see hundreds of "KaZaA is dead OMGWTFBBQ!11!1" popping up left, right and centre when the bell finally tolls.

Keep 'em confined to the right section(s), not to mention it (fasttrack) appears healthy in regard to user populance. By whatever feat. :?

That said, I would like to see Kazaa/Lite/Fasttrack merged into one section.. remove iMesh.. but I won't get my hopes up. :)

I personally thought it would have been most sensible to combine the three forums to one large one and just call it: "FastTrack/Kazaa/Lite/Resurrected/etc." Despite the long name, the users would still find it.

It's just my thoughts on it though.

Thats a good idea. It wouldnt be too big even if it was combined from a few forums.

IceCube's suggestion is good and keeping the forum open as a library of information or for anyone who is still on that network makes sense.

And how many of those FastTrack users post on Slyck? Not a lot. I think that's what Allied meant.

Still, I think there should be a forum for those that do post here.

I thibk we need a kazaa/fastTrack forum, but we dont need 3 (theres 3, right?). merge them together, it makes sense.

why do we have a forum for every fasttrack client, and the network itself, and only one for bittorrent? You might as well make a forum for Utorrent, a forum for Azureaus, and forum for Bitcomet, and a hundred other forums for each bittorrent client.

OK, since this has now been raised several times, and the general consensus seems to be that we should merge the three forums into one, it is now done ...

Merge it into one, then make it read only. So there is no more posting to it. That way it stands as a collection of information.

Maybe even at some point go through and clean out junk posts from it.

Since that network is closed source anyways, until that changes there are not likely to be any new legal clients for it anyways, no further development and we won't see very much changes coming from it. At least nothing to spark new discussion.

Instead maybe open a openft section. Since openft is opensource and new clients can and probably will get created for it.

I do not understand why openft didn't already take off. Maybe it just lacked a really good, simple and easy user friendly client?

I guess that many former fasttrack users just moved to the other networks such as gnutella and edonkey2000.

Could possibly even include a sticky post in the kazaa section, stating some general facts about kazaa and fasttrack.

Mainly that kazaa was the only legal client and it included adware, fasttracks shortcomings such as its poor hashing method which resulted in a heavy amount of file corruption, viruses, fakes and other such problems.

Maybe we could finally get a good openft client? Something we could point former fasttrack users to. It would need to be similar enough to kazaa for that usergroup to adopt it.

There are many newer features which such a client could include. Such as firewall2firewall, dht networking (replacing the use of ultrapeers/hubs), encrypted headers and perhaps more. Granted there are much better filesharing technologies, however newbies are not going to want to use them for a while longer, so until then this would be a possible stepping stone or transition client.

Yes there is bitcomet, which has dht networking, encrypted headers and a good amount of features, however it is designed as a bittorrent client, not as a kazaa or gnutella client is. Which is what those users need.
