you need to get one, upload to a server, and the link to it in your profile. Any image (JPG, GIF) that is 100*100 or less and up to 100k (yeah , I know, I really need to change mine) will be fine.

BTW, this should go in the Tell Us What You Think section. I'll move it there as soon as I know that you've seen this message.

I don't see any problem with one or two smilies in your sig. The rule is there just to reduce the clutter of the threads, and to make them look more professional and readable really.
