This has been confirmed by site admin Hellster.

they were served with the papers this morning and the owner decided to close the site.

That's a shame. I realy liked the way the site was laid out and run. :(

Gawd, what's left? Newzbin and binsearch as far as nzb sites go? :?

Guess it's back to torrents again...

Why? You don't need NZB's to use Usenet. There's still Usenet search engines, GrabIt's and Newsleecher's search tools( and other similar tools), and if all else fails DL headers.

That's how I started in newsgroups, downloadig headers. :)

Guess I just got lazy using nzb's...

Can anyone please tell me what the Hostname is for the Peer Hub newsgroups using Grabit? I have searched the site from top to bottom with no luck!

Many thanks.

Peer Hub is just an indexing site. You need a newsgroup provider to actually download anything from Usenet.

Look here: http://www.slyck.com/ng.php

Just out of interest, are there any free newsgroup providers?

Elton

Nope - I'd check out the newsgroups guide in the Guides section or, hell, just google 'newsgroups'.

This is my personal review of a site that i think is over looked but at the minute in the form that it has its gotta be one of the best english sites there is.

http://www.merlins-portal.net

I been using this since April (i think)and i have to say hand on heart that its a tight, neat & well run place. Its no newsbin or binnews but it filled the gap for me anyways that dvdrs and nzbzone left. After they closed there was no real good sites anymore untill a friend passed me the link for this site. To the point it is free for normal users but power users have to pay to get limations lifted. Since i would say most of the newsgroup users are normal users means you can get your needs filled without having to put your hand in your pocket ever.

The people running this site seem to have only one thing in mind and thats its members and the people running it are visible and get down with the members daily. I personally feel so at ease there. They handle problems with common sense and maturity. Site bugs are fixed in no time at all. And apart from the nzb to me the most important thing of any site is the attitude of the people running it and unlike most places there down with its members, they listen to the members needs which is rare at times on forums. I seen recently alot of bad headers about this site and in my opinion there all rubbish i have never seen evidence of any wrong doing.

Why i wrote this article was because good and i mean good nzb sites are hard to find and this is a good honest clean one but its always over looked and gets a rough ride from what could be one disgruntled member.

Don't take my word for it it costs nothing to have a look and if your like me you will soon learn its a good place.

My opinion may not be yours.

The title of this topic is "List truly free NZB download sites" - that site you mention is subscription based.
