Anyone else have browser access like EasyNews?

Postby sync » Fri Jan 09, 2009 8:10 pm

I use Usenet mainly for tv shows. I'm currently with Easynews. Their system is set up so that I can go to a page of searches I have set up and just download complete shows that I'm interested in from the browser.

However their system has been messed up for quite some time and it looks like I need a new provider. Does anyone else have a similar browser based system?

I used to use NewsReader.com several years ago (in fact I think they were the first NSP I ever used). They had (& still have) a similar service. Although it's been so long since I last used them, I couldn't tell you how good it was/is.

They have a free demo here:

using nzb sites like newzleech.com and nzbmatrix.com together with the newsreader program SABnzbd which you control with your browser is not really that different than what you get with easynews. plus you can then use any usenet provider.

I used to use easynews but I now use the above setup with a block account from astraweb. 125Gb for $25 which lasts me a long time. saves money and performs better than the easynews web access.

125Gb for $25 would be very good for me.

I use Usenet mainly for tv shows. Are any of the nzb sites set up so you can easily find new episodes of just the shows you are interested in?

very easy @ nzbmatrix.com

http://nzbmatrix.com/nzb.php?category=TV

http://nzbmatrix.com/tvshows.php

plus rss http://nzbmatrix.com/rss.php?cat=TV

added bonus of showing up quicker than on the easynews web interface.

Can you suggest something other than SABnzbd? It gives me disk errors but the disk is fine. I don't need a browser based program.

I would recommend that you not sign up to easy news. Since Aug they've had serious completion issues, from my perspective only about 70-80% of binary posts show up or not corrupted. That's pointless if your trying to grab large binaries.

They basically have been sweeping the issues under the rug until a few days ago, and provided a cryptic 'backfill' message rather then saying their completion rate has suxed for a number of months. Many suggest that after the new management acquired them, they've gone totally crap, I would agree with that assessment. E.g. overnight a number of binaries that was fully available on number of other usenet services failed to show up in easynews. they have missing parts. This service is plagued with problems, and anyone posting a review of easynews should make sure that is known. Customers on the easynews forum is walking out in droves and if the other usenet providers wonder why so many new customers are coming online, that would be thanks to mismanagement at easynews and their inability to keep their service running. It's really ashame because 6 months ago I would have whole heartily recommended EN over others for their web interface, but now it's pointless if you missing a large chunk of your files.
