Another scam by Usenext

Postby Usenext Scam Me » Thu Sep 21, 2006 10:04 am

Ive been a usenext subscriber a few months, np, I ran out of download, so I did a recharge for the usual 10 bucks, well I got my statement this month and had a charge of $104.00 dollars. So I told them to cancel my account and refund the difference back of 94 dollars and change. So far usenext contact is giving me bs and runaround. Ive contacted bbe, and my credit card company to refute the claim. I also have some relatives/lawyers in germany so im going to ask them to see what they can dig up on them and contact them. Usenext doesnt offer a 1800 number, u cant reply to their emails which is ridiculous.

thanks, I contacted now the German and U.K version of the Better Business Bureau too. Hopefully someone from Usenext will see this on top of me sending them constant emails and other avenues.

Before any first-time members start posting complaints about Usenext, I should point out that the Slyck mods have apparently deleted similar threads such as THIS ONE (isn't Google cache great?)

usenext suck wrote:I just signed up for the 14 day fre trial, with the site claiming they WOULD NOT charge my card UNTIL AFTER the 14 day trial period and of course there's a bloody charge for 82 euro the next day!!

I sent a support request and it came back saying there are 328 tickets and they'll get back to me in 32 hours. Yeah, right.

I called my bank and I will dispute the charge but that probably won't work. But I'm so not going to pay it, don't care what the bank says.

I know, I know my own bloody fault for not researching but damn, I'm so irritated!!! ARRGGHHHH!!

USENEXT IS A SCAM!!!!

Use the forums search page as well as Google and it will become evident that there is no shortage of complaints about UseneXT. Of course, mistakes can be made by any company, or due to customer error, but as I've often stated before, UseneXT is not a company that I would ever want to do business with.

Reasons for avoiding UseNeXT include:

They use deceptive advertising

They often overcharge customers, and don't (or won't) willingly correct it.

They entice people with offer of a free trial, then try to lock users into a long-term contract they can't get out of without paying huge penalties.

They have long, complex TOS contracts which include plenty of escape clauses for them but Draconian penalties for customers. (Generally, the long a contract becomes - the more ways a company gives themselves to screw the customer)

They delete complaints and critical comments about the service made by customers on the UseneXT forum.

On independent forums where they don't have the power to delete critical comments, they send company-employed shills posing as customers to every forum on the internet wherever someone makes a complaint, to defend the company and attack any critics or customers who feel they were cheated. (just watch it happen again here!)

.... I could go on, but I'll stop there ...

Don't forget tm,..I take great fun in catching UseNext shills....I believe you even congratulated me on this the last time I found one ;)
I know what you're thinking, punk. You're thinking, 'Did he use six superfluous adjectives or only five?' To tell the truth I forgot myself in all this excitement - but as I deal in English, the most powerful language in the world with subtle nuances that may blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel loquacious?' Well do you punk?

newsgroups have it first before p2p.

no need to waste any upload bandwidth.

download speed isn't dependant on other people. it will max right out. always. so less time spent downloading.

people rarely post useless broken garbage to newsgroups. unlike p2p where its always a gamble. especially on new things.

so far the media mafia hasnt started attacking it with fakes.

no need to mess with incomming ports like p2p requires.

very few isps throttle newsgroup downloading like they do to bt.

no shills. theres no stupid website in the url of your download. and theres no crappy little files that say downloaded from demonskank.txt

get on your knees and thank the people that download from newsgroups and then post it to p2p. or else you would never see alot of things at all. and wait a long time for alot of other new downloads.

Yes, indeed.

And I guess these games can conceivably be played by both sides.

Don't care, besides, ANIME for example come sout on bittorrent/irc first :).

zim wrote:no need to waste any upload bandwidth.

Don't mind, besides, hacked clients allow for more flexibility about this issue.

zim wrote:download speed isn't dependant on other people. it will max right out. always. so less time spent downloading.

Don't care, since my que is always in the hundreds, I always max out and I never really expect anything in particular - UNLESS it's anime in bittorrent, where, again, I maxout easily AND I can also get the newest things first.

zim wrote:people rarely post useless broken garbage to newsgroups. unlike p2p where its always a gamble. especially on new things.

Never happened to me SINCE I USE SITES WHICH VERIFY THEIR CRAP :).

look a little more closely. they are the same thread. the link i provided shows 4 pages, not 2, because google cached it before the rest of the posts were made. there may also appear to be a timestamp discrepancy - but look at the posts. the text matches, and if there is a timestamp difference, you will see that each post is off by the same amount. this is easily explained by your profile specifying a different timezone than the default setting for a guest, which google is ;)

OK, I see what happened. I didn't notice that the page number had somehow changed. It was originally http://www.slyck.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1951 but that same the thread is now http://www.slyck.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=10426

The Google search result page is showing entirely different threads for the actual webpage and the cached webpage. That's not an uncommon occurrence when a forum thread gets deleted and a new thread then reuses the same number. Some types of older bulletin board software would change the page number whenever a thread was moved, but recent versions of phpBB do not do that. I would like to know how a thread on the Slyck forum changes its page number without any administration intervention. Or was this a bug in Google?

The UseNeXT website is still deceptive. The price page reads:
$10.19 per month
term: 12 months
single payment

This implies that there is one payment of $10.19 each month, and people who are expecting to see a $10.19 charge on their monthly credit card statement are in for a rude awakening. In reality, the cost is $122.28 per year, and there will be a charge of $122.28 to their credit card immediately upon registering. However, paying for a year in advance does not necessarily buy a year in advance. Usenext gives itself the right to slap a price increase on prepaid accounts during the term of the contract:

The Contractor is entitled to increase the prices for the contractually agreed services under the following conditions:
An increase of prices is communicated in writing or by e-mail to the customer well in advance, i.e. at least four weeks prior to the increase. As of receipt of the increase notice the customer has the right for extraordinary termination as of the time of the increase. If the customer does not exercise this right for termination until the time of the price increase, the price increase is considered to be approved.

I hope people read over this contract very carefully before taking the plunge, as it contains many "gotchas"

i'm going to guess it's a bug in google. if you check the link in the cached google page for the second page of the thread, you'll notice it shows the same thread number as the actual slyck thread. so i can only imagine that google's bot identified the thread incorrectly for the text header to begin with. thread 1951 is also a valid thread, but much older than this one.

exactly what i was thinking,

"poor guy doesn't know the truth..."

Obviously this means that the truth about UseNeXT is not clear enough. Maybe we should write a sticky in this forum saying

'UseNeXT Members,
UseNeXT is a scam, it has been made clear in this forum in the countless threads started by poor suckers (no offense intended) who think UseNeXT is a real usenet service etc....'

Expect the UseNeXT shills to start showing up within the next few days, as that seems to be about how long it usually takes them to discover anyone badmouthing their company - as it would appear UseneXT constantly crawls the internet seeking out unflattering comment.

Here is one example on broadband Reports from a year ago. It's always amusing that - as usual - no one was falling for their tricks.

http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,14359842

I'm sure the shills have smartened up from that time of having two different pro-UseneXT "users" posting in the thread who both just happened to be sharing the same ISP in Germany (where UseneXt is headquartered).

The question remains - will this thread be getting a visit from Slider or a new 'one post wonder' to show up to defend this scamming company?

well after several emails, threatening them with legal action, i got my refund. Also got a pm from this shill.

"I'm not a usenext employee - here in germany most people know usenext and I am just happy with their service and have a lot of friends using usenext without any problems, too. Didn't you contact the usenext support to clarify your problem?
Hmmm...but your problem makes me curious...since I am from germany, I could give usenext a call and see, what they are saying to your problem - I would just need your customer ID...
