@ superalymac

It wasn't the users that Paypal had a problem with - it was Demonoid themselves. So no, Paypal don't care how you spend your money so long as you've got it, but they do have a problem with certain people accepting money - namely adult services and certain other practices that are either illegal or 'dodgey' (in their assessment).

As i have said i've been using them for over a year(since Q4 2006) now without incident and i personally feel that for my purposes it's a good value. Again i'm not saying that they don't routinely burn people but if you've used the service for any amount of time it's clear that some people are quite satisfied by what they get from usenext.

I also want to reiterate that as with any semi-shady online service whether it be usenet or porn or what have you being attentive and responsible by reading the fine print is key to a good experience. I learned this the hard way, I've been burned by a site before with their automatic monthly charges so i know how you people feel having your money taken. But that said i knew that they would charge me when the cycle ended and i just neglected to cancel, that's how these companies make alot of their money... People who forget that they've signed up for a monthly payment.

On a side note, I actually plan on canceling my service for the next cycle seeing as i can't really afford it this month so i'll report back on how that goes.

Cheers and to all a good eve.

1. I never downloaded even 1 byte, not even the software, so really the fine print has nothing to do with why they charged my card twice within minutes of me starting my "free" trial.

2. I don't view Usenet as "shady" - I mean seriously, it *can* be used for "shady" purposes, but it also has legitimate uses for many people. Either way, one should never have to worry with a company based in modern western Europe (I mean England, Ireland and Germany?!) about being ripped off without appeal quite so blatently.

It's one thing to be caught out by the fine print, but my case was nothing of the sort.

However, your experience would seem to indicate that giving them some money for something at least placates them.... It will be interesting to see how easily they let you leave [cue dramatic climax music].

Okay so i canceled my subscription. I immediately received a receipt of cancellation in my email and on my account correspondence page in the website's user info area.

Email appears as follows
Hello XXXXXXXX

Thank you for contacting us.

For your records we herewith confirm receipt of your cancellation for the UseNeXT account with the customer ID XXXXXX.

Your contract will be terminated on 13.04.2008, there will be no renewals.

In order to improve our service and offer we would like you to assist us with your feedback. Please let us know why you chose to cancel this contract. Thank you very much in advance.

They also went on about some sort of special deal but I'm only canceling it because I can't afford it this month so i don't really care at this point.
Anyway we'll see if i get any undue charges to my account or not. I think it is unlikely. I'll let you all know how it pans out.
Peace

I used Usenext two years ago, I had no issues. I looked at using it again but all the images plus downloads are the same scaming them off other sites, yes I have experienced the site.
