Fed Magnet = DC++

Postby Rezo » Fri May 18, 2007 2:54 pm

A friend of mine used mIRC and newsgroups, and it was only until he went back to DC++ when he got a letter from both the MPAA and RIAA. I honestly think it is fed infested, and would stay away from it. mIRC and newsgroups are really the best way to download.

I dont think its infested, its not a big network, although there are probably some hubs that are passing along info to authorities, that doesnt make the whole thing unsafe.
While IRC isnt the easiest way to get stuff, nor the fastest, it is at least pretty safe. Usenet just rocks if you can afford it.

I'm not too sure what the statistics are, but the nature and structure of DC++ play easily into the hands of enforcement entities. Personally I stay away from the protocol itself, for public hubs at least. I know of private hubs, but it seems from my observation that when those get busted, everyone on them gets the shaft, not just the admin.

Unlike a normal p2p network DC++ hubs behave more like a big centralized servers running on a lan.
You can see all the uses on the network and you can see all the files there sharing.
This makes it extra easy to sending C&D's to your ISP.

That's why I only use DC++ hubs when I'm back home or
I use Private DC++ hubs.
Not private because you need to get an invite.
I mean Private because I know everyone personally who's on the hub.
