Getting TWO computers on same network active - some help pls

Postby pulper » Sat Aug 26, 2006 1:06 pm

Hi hi,

We are a boyfriend and a grilfriend that have a WiFi connection (Netgear) and like using DC++

We have a small problem, only me (ie the boyfriend) is active while she is passive. I think I am pretty DC++ literate but when I try to get her account active I run in to a problem that you might hopefully help me with.

The Problem:
How can I get her a different IP number from mine? because if we are on the same IP number the computers clash and only one is able to connect to the internet at once.

Any thoughts and or suggestions would be greatly appreciated,
Pulper

The first thing you need to do is assign an IP to each PC. Check the manual for your router but you usually access it using this IP: 192.168.0.1.

You can assign the IP 192.168.0.2 for your main PC and 192.168.0.3 for your secondary PC. When using DC++, you need to use different ports and forward them to each PC. Check out http://www.portforward.com if you need help with this.
