Limewire Mods

Postby Juggalo15 » Mon May 03, 2004 12:07 pm

I know eDonkey has a mod (eMule) Hell even eMule has a mod eMule Plus. Kazaa has K-lite and KLR... I know these are only a few examples but I think they are the biggest ones known.

Now for something I'm wondering...

Anyone that has seen me post knows I AM a Limewire fanatic, This program just caught my eye and its never let go. Hell I'm against pay for p2p programs but I'm even on my 3rd subscription! They also have a spyware free blah blah version. The same thing.

I want to know if anyone in this forum is interested in making a mod of Limewire to distibute. I could offer hosting (yes I run on a paid server not home)to distribute and promote your version. I do have a TLD (Top Level Domain) which you can check out down below.

I mean truly there is no good Limewire mod but Aqualime...which is awesome! Though I have lost touch with the developer for the most part and he seems to have abandoned the project yet again(believe this is teh 3rd time)...hmph..

If anyone is interested in this either PM me or just post a reply

Or he's lost interest. Not such a big loss, really.

I checked out your site and must say I am impressed Juggalo15, but (no offense) I have never really cared for the Gnutella community much. I hope you find someone to mod LimeWire. :D

naw, the bastards are having one hell of sending me a reply. They should have been in weeks ago...I guess I will just send in requests until they finally answer. I understand companies and people can be busy with things but damn.

Yeah we know all about the AquaLime, see Juggalo's signature even. That version you found s relatively old. Too bad AquaLime isn't made anymore. =( but hey Greg's has bt support. =)

Yea, I already have that version up for download on my site... I've had it since it opened, you must have missed it. Yea, and still no takers for the modding. Greg has been doing some great work which I hope to see implemented into the normal Limewire.

Edit: I was looking around just through random things remmebering the days of Aqualime and I ran into M.O.'s old site. Damn, I also found him over at http://vegastrike.sourceforge.net/ under the same name Mamiya0taru .

I remember he used to love that program and I guess never quit on that one and still mods it to this day.

Cabos is a little to lightweight for me and doesn't have Linux support. Not a bad basic program though. For some reason I do like to have have a little eye candy, its just a pet peeve. I figure if someone can learn how to use a core well enough they can also learn how to make a decent GUI.

Still loooking for takers!

gnoozle? http://gnoozle.com/

The theme is different from LW and you can get source. No mac port or linux port which is weird since it is java.
Multinetwork apps are good for making every network they connect to less efficient. I think I hate them ;)

I'm looking more for something I can sponser and help build. Call me selfish but its all good. I personally don't think Gnoozle should charge for a pro version. I'm wanting to make something free and open source while still being nice to look at.

I think you should do a LW theme for the time being Juggalo, I personally would like more themes! (or write a simple theme maker for LW would be really good)

:D

Ya LimeWire is certainly the best but Gnoozle is useless.

Huh? Linux or Mac port? It is java - compile once, run everywhere where a VM is installed. Or is it so hard to run java -jar *jar? Why should a port be needed.

In case of azureus, well, yes, they use SWT which is requires ported binaries for your plattform (SWT-win32 for win32 etc.), but IIRC LW uses javax.swing and java.awt and those are plattform-independent ... And LW sourcecode compiles everywhere without any changes, so I suppose you understand under a port executable creation.
In that case there are *jar files which work like executables (java -jar *jar)

And those native executables are nothing more which run java and required parameters (it would work the same way with batch files/shell scripts)

A year ago I had no problem running the linux version under windows ...
Windows? Blah. Linux? Blah. BSD? Blah.
Just make sure you have a computer licence and I can open your fsckin files.

Isnt Gnoozle(which is useless) a mod of LimeWire?

Its remarkably similar. I don't know if its officially a LW mod (probably not), but the developer of Gnoozle said he was once an employee of LimeWire...Draw the conclusions you will

It is LW version 4.8 with slighly changed theme. Susheel Daswani is a former LW employee. Gnoozle is no more available to download because of the supreme court decision.
