BearShare is better i think what do you think?

LimeWire: Bad sourch results slower than BearShare more fakes(i get more on limewire) slows down the computer(java)

BearShare Lite or Pro: Fast, good sourch results, not so many fakes, slows down the computer a lil bit.

Try BearShare Lite or Pro and say what you think!

Another vote for Bearshare Lite. I have used Limewire before and found that it is no match for Bearshare Lite. It is slow and relatively bulky. Frostwire is also written in Java as well, so it does not solve many of the problems present in Limewire.

Bearshare is lightning fast, has a small memory footprint, and just is generally less intrusive than Limewire. Try it out and you'll see what I mean.

I vote Limewire. The java gui never really ran slow on my computer. The problem I always had was Bearshare freezing up or memory leaking after a long period of being connected.

Personnally, I've used Shareaza for Gnutella needs and have basically shifted towards ED2K because I found less and less of a use, but then again, Shareaza, when I used it, doesn't REALLY use gnutella... it used Gnutella 2. I havn't been able to test Gnutella 1 truly, but then again, speed is not always a necessity for me just as long as I get what I'm looking for. Saddly, though, if I'm going to be testing something completely new, I'd be more willing to test Ares as I've heard good things about that. So, saddly, I don't think I'll be testing clients for the gnutella 1 network any time soon.

Didnt use both for more than 2 weeks. Thought they were very similar. They both had a normal and pro version and both connects to Gnutella. But I would vote for BS ever since I heard limewire is importing filters for copyrighted stuff.

That's a good point, it might be more fair to throw Frostwire in with LimeWire.

Is it just my eyes playing on me or is Frostwire not on the list of Gnutella clients in the guide?

It's not just you, I posted a request for a change for ya while attributing you as the person who originally pointed it out. I used FireFox search feature to make sure it wasn't there and it definitly wasn't.

I gave BearShare Lite a shot. Admittingly I don't like the BearShare people cause of their history with adware and spyware.

I downloaded a few popular mp3's. My speed never went past 20kB.

LimeWire Pro downloads the same songs at 40kB.
It takes 10,000k more ram, but its faster.

I use to use bearshare but other programs and networks
are better. If I had to choose between the two.
I would pick Limewire if for no othre reason.
its java and I can run the same application on any computer.

The drawback with both these programs they only work
on the gnutella network.

I could be wrong with limewire but years ago when I used K-lite hiding your library was a deterent to getting sued by the RIAA. In theory no one could get that nice long list the RIAA uses when deciding who to sue yet everything was still being shared.

I agree hiding your library and still sharing your files is great. I won't use LM either because of this.

LimeWire & BearShareLite are both excellent Gnutella clients. Some computers will work better with BearShareLite, because LimeWire uses Java. Java is a resource hog, but the benefits of using a Java client is that it can run on many operating systems, whereas BearShareLite only runs on Windows. Another important factor is that LimeWire is basically what made the Gnutella network so popular with it open source code. BearShare really hasn't gave much to the Gnutella community since it is closed source. I have used both and I like LimeWire better. It just a matter of personal preferance which is best for yourself.

Thanks.
