Wow, talk about a miracle. I definitely got an uneasy feeling when he waved to the camera and said goodbye to himself.

I read about this and he remembered about the camera and was saying goodbye to his family.

This is not the first time this sort of thing has happened (although I think its the first time caught on film). There's quite a few people who have survived falls from miles up. I believe Vesna Vulovic is the current record holder (she was a wreckage rider). There were WWII pilots who fell from great heights, including one who fell through the glass ceiling of a train station (I believe he suffered a broken leg). Busehes, trees, and other soft impact objects that slowly decelerate you are your friend if you ever get blown out of an airplane at 2 miles up. Although falling from 500 feet and 2 miles is the same in terms of impact.

Its not the fall that kills you its the sudden stop.
The terminal velocity of this skydiver is about 124 mph (200 kph).

He did have 2 of his parachutes out even tho they were not fully deployed that would have dropped his speed to about 80 mph.
He then didn't hit the ground at impact he hit very dense but flexible brush dropping his final terminal speed to 40 mph or less before coming to the hard stop.

The worlds highest skydive.

When you reach terminal velocity, it doesnt matter. how far you fall. What is pretty amazing though in this case is that he was still conscious when his friend found him.

The guy was on leno(i think) the other night. He was using crutches i believe, not bad for a 10,000 ft fall.

Yeah, only suffering a broken ankle according to the report. I wonder if he feels slightly more indestructable after that.
