Im oblivious to the fact that people would still use this software after what just happened... really shocks me

If people do still want to use eD2k then it is still there. The servers are still populated and Overnet still connects after a while, admittedly with less users. Just use version 1.43b or lower and you will be fine.

The eDonkey site is down for good.
Aside from what has already been displayed in the news, there's not really too much more that can be said.

Well now I'm happy and informed.
As an experiment demonstrating the chaos that arise from missinformation this was great, but as I said before, the only thing we all need was a confirmation.

Anyway, it's time to give a try to emule (again), but first, take a look at the trick with the old client.

Thanks to metamachine for the time and the network they developed.

The invention surpased the inventors...

Bad move, eDonkey 1.4.3b is still alive and kicking and like someone says:

The servers are independent from MetaMachine for a long time now, the other clients as well.
The old Edonkey/Overnet clients will continue to work with some little tweaks, just like WinMX.

The unexperienced users, unable to maintain their former client, will have to search for a new home.
Many will come here, others will choose other clients or networks, some will abandon p2p.

Long live eDonkey 1.4.3b!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8)

I have to admit I have felt something wrong since around January this year and that I am, at this point, just not convinced to continue to use ANY edonkey versions.

Got a bad feeling about this one more than ever before!

I had an old edonkey lite version that I was using before I fell for that "UPGRADE DUE TO A VUNERABLITY" crap a couple weeks ago..I was supicious the whole time about that one and so it doesn't surprise me much this has happened.

Anyways, the lite version i have still, tho it seems to work fine, has changed its skin (look) somehow and that bothers me as well.

I am honestly tempted to pull out my back-up hard drive and uninstall my current p2p, copyright infringement-full one and bury it 6 feet under in a field someplace where hopefully no one will find it til the year 2393 as a time capsule in a day where prayerfully there wont be such a thing as RIAA or any of the like and people will look at us all and have a good laugh at our 20th century stupidity.

I am done with p2p period...its just not worth it anymore!

Good luck peeps!

What are you worried for, though? You don't seriously believe that Metamachine kept records of your music and movie downloads and such.

I bet that the same thing will happen when winMX shut down... nothing except the p2pworld has one less official client (hacks galore on the other hand).
