contact.dat at 0k

Postby John Hartford » Fri Jul 07, 2006 9:32 am

Hi.

I keep getting the "can't connect to Overnet" popup, whenever I log on to edonkey v1.4

I looked here on the slyck forums and it told me it was probably my contact.dat file, and I followed the link http://www.gedc.de/sig/contact.dat and downloaded myself a new one 12k long.

Trouble is, I still get the message, and when I hit the 'try to download' button, it replaces my shiny new 12k contact.dat with a new one 0k in size :(

I apologise if this has been answered elsewhere on the forums, I promise I had a good look first. Can anyone help?

Here are my settings.

60kb Down
19kb Up
Line speed hint 100kb
45 Max connections

I came to these through trial and error, but while they are better than the zero/zero settings, they don't seem to make much use of my 1Mb broadband.

Thanks in advance

Try using TCP 3662 and UDP 3665, as well as increasing your max connections to 150. Then close eDonkey, redownload that contact.dat file and see if that helps.
