I take back any of the bad things I said about ED2k. I've been running Lphant Lite for a couple of days now and it's fantastic. It connects immediately, I'm getting constant speeds of 100-200k. Today alone I downloaded 6.5gb off the network and gave out only 2.5gb.

I still don't like Emule (for some reason that just doesn't work for me)

But Lphant lite I'm really surprised with (don't get Lphant, apparently its full of spyware). I'll be using ED2k a lot more in the future.

a good way to get credits in ed2k is to get the goodsets of roms (i.e all of them in one pack) off of BT, then share them on ed2k, or just make a file named porn.jpg or .avi , .mpg , etc. Leave it on for a bit, and you start to get way better speeds (porn is usually one of the top 4 searched keywords if you look in bitcomet, so maybe if lots of people download it, credits galore). also, don't use shareaza for ed2k, it doesn't support credits, though it's great for G1/G2. Well, one time i did get 500kb/s but just once. OMFG, what are we going to do when games take advantage of the space on HDVD/BLU-Ray discs? 20kb/s just won't cut it.

Ummm, did you just tell a whole p2p community you make fake files to gain credits on a network based on fair sharing? Ever get the feeling you might not have wanted to have done that? ........

Like I said earlier, eMule just doesn't work for me. I've had it sitting for days giving out stuff and getting crap all in return.

Below is my stats for Lphant lite since I started it up mid-afternoon today:

Image

I never, not once while using eMule got speeds even close to that. I'd all but given up on the ed2k network until I stumbled upon Lphant lite.

Make of it what you will :)

PS. I've had newsgroups downloads going in that time, and a couple of torrents finishing off. And this whole credits mess, well, I'll leave that to whoever wants to use it. Me, I'm sticking with this Lphant client for a while longer.

PPS: The wonderful twist for me is that (apart from a few rogue Shareaza connections) I'm connecting and downloading from mainly eMule clients. Gotta love that.

I didn't want to install the .NET shit but now i'm going to install it and Lphant Lite. The bad is that Lphant does not have KAD :( I downloaded 2 Gigs yesterday from eMule, mostly part music videos and they all was real and good quality

I just don't get why it don't work for you? Router forwarded properly and mule setup done with care whacks the crap outta ipants. I don't for one minute doubt your skills, but am really curious to understand why it don't work well for you? I can get crazy almost BT speeds (albiet for short periods) with some files. My line is always maxed out with eMule, granted it's not the fastest but the content is pretty damn good! Anyhoo, each to their own........ :)

.Net isn't that terrible in my opinion. Without it I wouldn't be using Paint.Net, which is fantastic, and free (also its being ported to Mono for Linux, can't be bad). There's also a really good avi to dvd program that needs .net called avi.Net.

As to Lphant Lite, it's working for me *but your mileage may vary*

As to Emule (again) I have all my ports forwarded, high id, everything looks good, but it's been the same since day one for me (and yes I've used mods too). I share about 100gb of files, and as soon as I turn the Mule on it starts giving out, but it doesn't give much back (even after days).

That's why I gave up for a long time on the eDonkey network.

Lphant Lite brought me back into the fold.

Assyrian you're a sucker for punishment. Give Lphant Lite a shot for a day and see what happens. You're not losing anything. Maybe you'll gain something, who knows :)

I would say you have it configured wrg.

You need to enable, Options -> Files -> "Try to transfer full chunks to all uploads"

Notice only 9 upload sessions, and 683MBs uploaded.

You should avg about 8-9MB per session. A bit less than a chunk cause some sessions will terminate earlier for a varity of reasons.

The consequence is you only have credit with 9 clients at the time of the screen shot, who are likely to be all leechers.

There you go :)

The installer there isn't English...kinda. You can change the language to English in the options menu, from the other language it installs in.
