[Free VPN] VPN Steel

Postby thamasta2k3 » Thu Sep 16, 2010 11:22 pm

I have just recently come across a free VPN service called VPN Steel. You may find more info and get an account by going to http://www.vpnsteel.com. There's also a forum for it at http://www.vpnsteel.com/forum/index.php.

Interesting ....

Located in Canada, judging by the domain registration.

Site seems a bit unfinished and amateurish though. It's basically a bodged Zen cart clone, which they've tried to hide by changing the "Powered by" footer from Zen Cart to VPNSteel. They neglected to change the html headers though. Forum is a bit dead too. I guess it's a start though ...

Anyone tried it?

Yes. I'm using the service right now. Its pretty fast on most websites except for when it lags (which causes the speed to drop for a couple of seconds). Hopefully I can help the admin of the service figure out why its lagging so it can be fixed.

EDIT: The lag might be because of my ISP since it still happens even when not connected to the VPN server.

Well, since more than 300 users have joined the service, Its no longer free. At least he's allowing the people that already have an account to still be able to use it for free :).

Yes, I did. Well, I've been fine with sharing files so far. So, I'm going to ignore those statements and hope for the best.
