Cleaning old drivers before installing new ones.A good idea?

At GTAForums some people say its a good idea to uninstall and use a driver cleaning tool to remove old GPU drivers before installing new ones. Uninstalling the old drivers instead of installing the new drivers over the old drivers might be a good idea, but using a driver cleaner seems obsessive.

Those same people complain about not getting enough FPS with GTAIV when they get 40-60+.

A driver cleaner has resolved issues I've had at least 2 times, that I can remember. So I would put it in the good idea categorize as well. In any normal situation its not needed. You should uninstall the old driver, and reboot, before you install a new one, but again that's "good idea", and normally isn't needed.
