Bit Che Virus?!?

Postby zbeast » Fri May 01, 2009 9:07 pm

Avast alert me when doing an update in Bitche. The log:
5/1/2009 5:42:38 PM SYSTEM 1396 Sign of "Win32:Trojan-gen {Other}" has been found in "C:\Users\bigkitty\AppData\Roaming\Convivea\Bit_Che\scripts\special.exe" file.

I when ahead an ran the downloaded executable and it really is a virus..
I've posted this report to the Convivea site and i'm posting it here.

Just don't update the scripts for awhile. This has happened before and is usually fixed within a few days. No surprise here.

You need to update your bases as Avast is aware of the special.exe that comes with bit che.

You may want to submit the file to virustotal and see if you get the same results as the one I have submitted.

I know this thread is a little old but figured I'd add my two cents in case others Google up this page as I did. Not much on the net about this. I've been using Bit Che for awhile now and think it's a great little program for searching. Yesterday though I clicked check for updates and it had one so did it and then today when I do a malware scan I come up with "special.exe" just as you did. I ran it through Virustotal and 9 of the 42 scans said it is a virus and one names it Pakes which is suppose to be really bad but Virustotal results sometimes needs to be taken with a grain of salt. I simply renamed "special.exe" to special.old and then ran Bit Che and works fine without it. Not sure what it is or does but seems shady. Even the name of the .exe sounds shady, almost like it's an intentional bit of humor in it. If I was to name a trojan, special.exe would be a good name for it. Lol
