Looks good. Unfortunately, FastTrack is a waste of time.

Who cares???

Side Note: The 2.5 million still using FastCrap are most likely using the regular old everythingware-bundled KMD piece of sh1t.

Well this is a filesharing forum. If someone wants to use fasttrack at least give them the best possible tools they can use.

ur probably right ... but i think it's not necessary to work on a k-lite version cause the most internet users have recognized that there r better networks / clients out there! fasttrack is dieing and nobody can stop it! not even k-lite ;) <--- just my opinion

all that figure proves is how many ignornat p2p'ers are still out there. it is not like the vast majority of these 2.5 million users have tried lots of other applications and networks and then decided that fasttrack is the best.

I have a quick question. Does anyone have any source code for this, or is still the old tired hacked-to-death program?

K-Lite v2.7 Beta 4

Postby isamma » Sun Feb 06, 2005 5:13 pm

new beta 4 is out now ... two words to describ it

its great

ftfakes
This version comes with a very intersting new feature. It's called fake analysis and it's purpose is to avoid downloading fake files.
It scans your search results for possible fakes and marks the search results as good (star) or bad (red bug).

Of course it's impossible to detect all fake files, but you will see that it already works with a high accuracy

The accuracy of this feature depends on a up-to-date BannedIPs list!!!

More infos and instructions for the fake analysis are coming soon.

K-Lite v2.7 Beta 4

Changes KL 2.7 BETA 3 > KL 2.7 BETA 4
Added fake analysis feature
Replaced BadIPUpdater 1.5 with BannedIPsUpdater 1.0 (completely re-written)

Changes KL 2.7 BETA 2 > KL 2.7 BETA 3
Added constant participation level of 1000
Added new icons for the main and secondary toolbar
Added new feature: download monitor
Added K-Lite splash screen
Added shell open to the right click menu of My K-Lite view
Added Delete (for finished downloads) to traffic view right click menu
Added option to hide the uploads window in traffic view
Easier access to hide toolbar and player option
Removed K-Lite's internal webserver

well , klite is fast . the ft network is very fast and there is a lot of people on it .thats just the main thing . any network will get popular cause of this ..

piolet will be the next kazaa , if the dev. would stop putting popups and ads in it .

i just read about edk having to use credits ? thats just stupid . most of the people that use it are prolly using a hacked version that gave them credits and everyother poor sucker is going to have to wait to build their credits but get leeched off of .

i know about the fake files but there has to be a way to tell if its a corrupt file before downloading . i am sure someone will work around this ..

I've just replied to that post you're referring to. I think you misunderstand. The credit system works well, but only if you use the network regularly. If you open the client for the first time, or once every few months and expect to be able to get a file quickly, it aint gonna happen. There are 'leech-mods' which try to jump the queues, but most of the other mods are wise to them, and boot them off automatically. It is a very fair system. After-all, this is filesharing, which means you should give as 'good as you get'.

the credit system in eMule is not like FT's.

FT clients record how much they themselves have uploaded to other users and then calculate their own credit; other clients see the credit you yourself report to them. so it's easy to hack and give yourself max credit.

eMule clients remember other clients userhash IDs and how much they have downloaded from that user ID. Credit given to you is stored not on your own computer, but on those you have uploaded to.

To hack that kind of system, you would have to either:
a) steal the user ID of someone with lots of credit with lots of clients (possible in the early days but now prevented)
or
b) hack into other person's computer and insert your user ID with false upload credits into that person's known client file. And then repeat that for every single person you want to have credit with. Not very practical.
