Crazaa ?

Postby Psycho Ced » Mon May 23, 2005 6:11 pm

has anyone heard of Crazaa?

What is Crazaa?
Crazaa is a FREE file-sharing program like no other. It allows you to connect, download, and share files with MILLIONS of other users through the decentralized Gnutella and OpenFT networks. Once Crazaa is installed, you'll have access to the largest and most diverse networks of shared media files in the world. And unlike many other 'peer to peer' software providers, we respect your privacy and will never sell you out to spyware. When you download Crazaa, you're getting Crazaa and only Crazaa, no bundled spyware, no ads, just Crazaa.

Features
High performance peer-to-peer protocol connects to Gnutella and OpenFT networks.
Share and DOWNLOAD ANY FILE TYPE
Multi-sourced downloading for maximum speed on broadband connections
Auto-Complete feature continuously seeks out new download sources, even after Crazaa is restarted
Detailed bandwidth monitoring and throttling controls - kazaa
Complete upload and download queuing system
OpenFT connectivity fpr super fast download speeds.
Powerful docking window interface great for hi-res and multi-monitor systems - kazaa
Compatible with most LAN configurations
Crazaa respects your privacy and doesn't contain spyware like kazaa
.

Sounds like a KCeasy mod, but without Ares.

Taking a look..

Their site claims its a download.com top 5 rated file.

Its not. nowhere close.

And the user reviews are all negative. Some claim it has spyware too.
Aside from 3 which are super super positive.

the first review is.. dated before the site says it was first released. And. note the name of the reviewer on download.com

This software is freaking awesome! It has no spyware and has more files than winmx and you always get the file with no bs. This will soon be the standard by which other file sharing software will be judged. get it now!

Also claims its a 5 star pick on a shareware site. With 10 downloads.

Smells like a es5 wannabe. I'd never install it after just looking around some.

I remember Crazaa from like 3 years ago, but I didn't pay it much attention. Strangely, I can't find any reference to it that far back, or even a year back. And ironically, it's not on archive.org anywhere, so maybe I'm thinking of a different program. Or maybe I'm just going crazaa... I mean crazy.

Probably just someone who is a fan of Slyck.com

It's a ripoff of KCeasy,
http://www.kceasy.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=3254#3254
Its not part of Download's top 5,
http://www.download.com/Crazaa/3000-219 ... ag=lst-0-1

I havn't tried it yet. I'm not sure if that version on downloads is the same one that's offered by crazaa.com
But the one on downloads is listed as free. Noi spyware or adware.

So I don't know how these people are trying to scam people.
Maybe its a legit mod of KCeasy in early development.

after reading that forum thread..

its pretty obvious this program is a total scam. Just nobody has figured out how exactly yet. since it has no ads. and claims no spyware. and its free. and an exact copy of kceasy. you have to wonder whats the point. why pay hosting and bother tricking people into running your program. What do they have to gain?

They gotta get paid somehow. Unless its just some stupid punk kid whos doing it to feel like he counts. So he can tell his friends he has his own p2p?

I'd be VERY wary of installing it.

Every virus / spyware scanner is only as good as its signature list.

And those wont even catch some things at all. ever.

Hmmm I think Crazaa comes from the combination of Crap (Cra) and Kazaa (zaa).

Anyway, glad I didn't notice this software earlier
Multinetwork apps are good for making every network they connect to less efficient. I think I hate them ;)

It's a total ripoff/rebranding of an old version of KCeasy, bundled with the fasttrack plugin. God knows what they've put into it - it doesn't appear to have any adware/spyware, but to ripoff an open - source project and ignore the GPL ... they must have put some sort of malware in there. Stick with KCeasy - the latest RCs are fairly impressive. And if you insist on using fasttrack, get the plugin - http://gift-fasttrack.berlios.de

No networks are useless. They all serve a purpose even though we may not like them, someone else might love it. Whats useless is bashing other networks when people think they are more elite than others.

IceCube is absolutely right. I'll love it when the only people left on fastrack is the RIAA. Feeding itself false files and paying big bucks for it's stooges to do so. I wonder if they will sue themselves. Hey, I wouldn't put it past them.

I would tie their hands to the computer chair and..well.. tie them down, deinstall Fastrack clients, install e-Mule, BT, etc. Ask them what they are looking for and get it without hitting 8 or 9 dummy files in the process to convince them it's crap.

I personally have a friend who uses FastTrack and I've told him dozens of times to get off of it, but he refuses to listen. So if he get's a C&D letter, I won't shed a tear. I told him time and time again to get off of it.

You can tell people over and over where they are screwing up but most people won't listen as long as theyre getting files. Its amazing how free files turns people into greedy idiots.

I'm not being pretentious, just wondering about simple common sense. You are free to use FT whenever you want....
