Hi...can anyone tell me if this is wrong or not???
There is a current ad in Ebay...that, among other things, reads.....
DOWNLOAD DVD MOVIES, MUSIC, SONGS, IPOD MP3 MP4, GAMES
INSTANT DOWNLOADS, UNLIMITED, MONEY BACK GUARANTEE. !!.... and is selling for $2.80 USD.

This person then sends you a link to download Ares, and a link to help you use it...

What a crock!!!!!

Surely this is illegal, yeah????

Please advise....

Regards......Shazza[/b]

Yah, Im not sure of the "legality" of these scams, and if any loopholes enable them to continue their business, but I classify them as that college course that weeds out all the freshmen in the engineering program, this scam weeds out all the people who have no right to be downloading online.

probably not illegal. but very funny. and if someone had to be cheated out of a couple bucks then, well, at least it wasn't an expensive lesson.

It is not technically illegal (criminal) but could be legally actionable.

It does violate ebay policies
http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/encouraging-illegal-activity.html

eBay prohibits the sale of items or links to items that encourage, promote, facilitate or instruct others to engage in illegal activity. In addition, eBay may remove listings as requested by law enforcement to cooperate with any investigation or to prevent harm to eBay and its members.

Ebay enforcement of policies is very subjection. A larger seller who generates a lot of fees will generally be cut more slack then a small seller IF the compliants only come from other ebay users.

If the MPAA or RIAA complains to ebay, they will take quick action.
