Should I get Ares 2.0.4?

Postby RealG187 » Sun Feb 04, 2007 5:39 pm

"Ares 2.0.4 is out!" says their site. Should I get it or stick w/ my 1.9.7.3016? Ig I quit it and install and run the new one, will my DLs and ULs continue from where they left off?

Also why is Warez P2P here? I heard that Ares and them are on the same network, is that why they hshare a section?

Ares & Warez are not on the same Network anymore...Ares is once again by itself.

As for upgrading, that your choice..I still use 1.9.2-3011...which was the last stable version.
Version 2.xxx look like WMP, which is fine, but it is buggy.

Yes, your downloads will pickup where they left off.

I think i read that they were but not now, but thats why they sahre a section right?

My 3016 seems stable.. Sometimes it says "Not Responding" but thats probably cuz windows has a crappy Kernel...

I downloaded the newest Ares and it toko over 20 minutes to connect. Don't get me wrong but I tried over 30 times of restarting my computer and the program itself and got the same results. I uninstalled it and installed an older version and no problems. It connected lightning fast and my downloads went just as fast.

Maybe when I reinstall my OS i'll put the old version back on, like when I went up, if I go down will the downloads pickup from where I left off?

Read down a few posts.... and stick with the real Ares.

Or read here about another really great GOLD p2p system! Classic!

You may recognize a few tags...

I still use 1.9.2, I think it's the least buggy. It still connects to the network fine and I'll continue to use it until it doesn't. I don't like the new look of Ares.

Version 2.* has the tendency to kill your internet connectivity if you have too many download sources. Connectivity is restored by simply exiting the client.

Everything else works perfectly, however.

Ares Gold is a scam. In my point of view; if you don't see it listed at slyck.com don't download it.

Gold versions are typically scams. Its all free until they charge you for "Faster" speeds and better selection. Nothing that a few tweaks cant do.

And the older version of Ares suits the downloaders needs much more. Exactly why sites such as olderversions.com are so popular. New doesn't always mean better. And gold sure as hell doesn't mean better.

ID rather have my normal free teeth than a gold grill, would you?

I used the new version of Ares Gold and eliminates the performance problems that have plagued other P2P networks like Ares Galaxy and LimeWire.

ugh gold = bad

The newest version of ares connects fine. If you like your old version, stay with it. If you feel ike trying something new then don't.

I'd still finish any downloads going just to be safe.

Haven't used it in years, so can't comment, I know this is so random, but what the fuck? sorry forgot to punctuate with question mark there :)
