It's not always the same port.

Open Ares, then in the Ares Control Panel area click the Transfer tab. The port used is listed (and configurable) at the top where it says "Accept incoming connections on port: nnnnn"

Thank you for your help. Then, how do you know what ports the other ares users are using that you can download from. Do you think that is the reason why I can not download anything else, is because everybody is using different ports. Is there any way to change it so I can use Ares again. Thank You

It makes no difference what port other users are using. The point of opening/forwarding ports is so that when any unexpected transfer request arrives at the assigned port at your (external) IP, it will be passed/routed to the appropriate internal IP, computer and/or software - in this case Ares on your PC. As long as the port you are using isn't blocked/restricted in any way (eg, by your ISP, router or software firewall), other users of Ares will be able to initiated file transfers from your computer to theirs. It doesn't matter if everyone is using different ports, since the outbound requests should pass unhindered through any firewalls.

If you can't connect, make sure you have the latest version of Ares (and/or try re-installing it), or try using another port. Just make sure that you remember to forward/open whatever port you choose to use. Having said all that, I've found that Ares often works (to some degree) even if the assigned incoming port is blocked, so make sure you're giving it long enough to connect. The first time may take several minutes.
