Bit torrent is the killer of other P2P

It is more than a network, it has many sites offering different and often specialized content, fast, reliable and the files are never fake....

ED2K is a relic of old p2p, other clients are there for noobs. I like ares, but i was using it when it just split from gnutella and it was not a popuilar network. It was an amazing netowrk, know why? cause its small userbase shared good quality files and not just popular ones, this has gone, there sharers have gone, when i search the networks these days for music, i get 128 mp3s as standard if im lucky il get 192. Its just not worth the effort any more.

Nah, specialized content is also on DC++, and very fast too, i have never gotten a fake from DC++. I can't imagine a world with only Bittorrent, it would be soo hard to get the files people wants :x

Most people cant get access to high speed private hubs, and the public ones just arent as useful IMO. In reality, i would say 99% of non-fake content can be found on either emule or bit torrent, if you know where to look and what to search for.

Hope this isn't to old to be bumping...

I don't think Ares is a contender to take over the lead as an overall p2p network, but it definitely has it's place among the top three.

BitTorrent, as every one knows is good for large, newly released files, ed2k (eMule) for older releases and rare files and Ares, ares hasmit's place, it is great for mp3's, but not .rar'd up full albums, it is excellent for good quality music video's, and you can always grab a movie from ares very quickly, the only problem with the movie is saw3 has a 50% chance of being a cam of some other movie or just a renamed porn. Ares lacks the integrity to be trusted for large files, however this is not a weakness of the program, it has hashlinks and does not suffer from FastTrack style fakes, it just doesn;t have a reliable release/links site to get such movies off with enough sources. So for larger files, ed2k and BT will remain supreme as the get content much quicker and when downloading it you have a much higher chance of it being good quality and what you expected it to be.

Ares has it's place, it's great at what I need it for, and ed2ka and BT couldn't compare is it came to grabbing songs and music videos, just as ares can't compare to getting the latest tv episodes, movies, and software.

I do hope development continues for this program...

It's great that it's around but...
I really don't need to use it.
I can get anything I need via usenet, bit-torrent or emule.

The only fake I've gotten recently is I was downloading a training video and it turned out to be a copy of a screener.
Then again I'm not looking for music.
Which I'm sure there are still company or just lazy people flooding the network with bad files.

Nah no problems on ares with fake/corrupted mp3's, the hash alogrithm has been implemented properly.

The problem is misnamed movies etc, so saw3 is really saw2 or something like that but with no abundance of hash-link sites for ares this is what makes gabbing movies of ares unpractical to BT or ed2k.
