For MP3's - I personally found Kazaa Lite to be the best. The downloads were the fastest than any other P2P application that I've tried. It has an extremely large userbase compared to any other network, therefore you're bound to find what you're looking for. On top of that it's the only P2P software that realizes the RIAA's potential and has done anything to minimize your risks as a file swapper. Kazaa Lite has an already built in IP blocker, PeerGuardian application and a feature that makes you look like you're sharing one [copyrighted] file. You should read about the many other features that Kazaa Lite has to your left at "Guides To FILE-SHARING Methods" under FastTrack you should be able to locate Kazaa Lite or just click here.

I know already that several individuals may disagree and claim that WinMX is a better resource for music. I found it to be slow when it came to downloading [queries - no doubt, just like SoulSeek also] and I consider it to be unsafe to share on. You should read what Slyck says concerning WinMX being a future target of the RIAA at the "Rookie Guide to Downloading". You should also take a look at a WinMX user whose afraid to share on the WinMX networks here. Face it, any day now it could happen.

Right off the bat, Piolet is definitely not safe to share on since it's already a target of organizations such as the RIAA. Plus it doesn't really have as much of files as the FastTrack network [Kazaa Lite].

Well at the end - It's your choice. I've presented you with the information that I know of.

imo i like them both hand in hand. I usually use Piolet, but Piolet doens't have those rare songs or foreign songs like Kazaa does. so imo Piolet is for relatively new/old and Kazaa is for the rare and/or foreign songs :)

I think you all can agree on this:

You're not going to find any fake files or viruses on Piolet/Blubster (at least not yet, hopefully). I haven't come across a fake file yet on there.

Well I would say use MP2P, and Soul Seek. Ditch fake ridden Fast Track. Over all Soul Seek is much better. However if you want the quick common popular MP3 MP2P (blubster, piolet) is the way to go. Good fast speeds, easy to find high bit rate files, and no fakes. Both are much safer then fast track, just use peer gaurdian for that little bit of extra protection it might offer you. My 2 cents

I think that Kazaa Lite is the VERY BEST P2P program I have ever used, yes, it might have viruses, but just use McAfeee, or Norton AV and you are fine! 8)

Or of course KCeasy is a good KLite replacement that's worth trying now .......

If now you were to ask me this question & I must choose between using either Kazaa Lite or Piolet...I would pick Piolet.

While the FastTrack network have been deteriorating by the day, the MP2P network manage to maintain its stableness.

New long anticipated releases for the MP2P clients will be arriving soon. This should definitely spark the development of the network itself. New safety measures and connection issues would be resolved (hopefully).

However, keep in mind that they're both just as dangerous to use. In the time being, Kazaa Lite might have more protection for its users but since the FastTrack network is massively targeted in comparison to Piolet - it may be safe to assume that the possibilities of getting caught on either network is somewhat balanced.

I would say MP2P over fast track, no fakes, and plenty of H.Q. rips.

Without a doubt Piolet is the rocker! :P

Though it may have a smaller community and more specialised I feel it is easier to use and no fake files - its all real.

K Lite was good but is the fake files are depressing. anyone know of a way to filter the fakers out?

rock on piolet!

old indeed!! TWO YEARS!

at this point, thought relevant, probably won't be of much use to the original poster, though, and the information on fast track downhill road is widely available all over the forums, in much more recent threads... not to speak of the problems piolet causes.

note that after 2 years, your response has no bearing on the previous posts, where people were actually commenting within a completely different file-sharing context.

please refrain from reviving old threads unless you have something worthy, relevant and valid to contribute. thanks

Pffft not much of a contest because they're both as bad as each other in their own ways. If you're looking for music though try Soulseek.
