From Slyck stats:

MP2P 264,565

Compare that to the enormous BitTorrent community, which occupies over 60% of all net traffic.
That alone says: Low file availability, low speeds.

_mp2p2_, please feel free to ignore such comments, and to choose to use the client/network you feel most comfortable with. :) Also, please feel free to allow others to do the same. :D Finally, please feel free to stop filling this forum up with unsupported arguments in favor or against any clients or networks, and likewise, refrain from encouraging such comments. thanks.

He's got a lot to feel free to do.
Sorry for that post, but even though I don't use Ares, his fanboying was annoying me. (I hope I wasn't exactly like that back in the WinMX era.)

By the way, 2p, you've forgotten all about Fooltank? I haven't seen you there in ages.

[edited following edit of my own post. sorry! 2p  ]

yeah, it was a bit like that, db... you were the same age too! so I guess it's a bit of a phase. One grows and learns :D . But since we've been all that age, we try to understand, tolerate, and move on  .

everything's got a limit though, andit can be explained... gently!

and no, haven't forgotten about ft, or granny's! but I'm afraid I have loads of work now, and long office hours, and also a husband to pay attention as well as a house to hunt for. I can't even keep up to date with topics here! talk about elsewhere...

anyways, back to topic, we are looking for REASONED and ARGUMENTED lists of pro's and con's of MP2P. Notice that the "I like it and you're full of crap" argument does not count as reasoned.

NOTES:
1. Anybody who has nothing intelligent to share regarding the above topic is kinldy invited to refrain from posting.
2. Likewise, anybody who feels their blood boiling after reading any of the REASONED and ARGUMENTED pro's and con's, or after reading an UNreasoned and/or UNargumented pro or con is kindly requested to take a cold shower before responding.
And to 3. ensure s/he does not fall that low when replying (ie. takes the high road and gives a REASONED and ARGUMENTED reply).

Sh!t. I was like that? I can't remember making threads to diss other networks though..did I do that?

And it would be nice if you could, at least once in a while get a post through on FT.
(I've totally forgotten about Patti's site. )

I dont understand, why do people keep asking which network is better?

Use whatever works for you unless that networks kazaa. :)

I'm not all about trying to talk on my p2p app.
P2P is for trading file If you want to chat go to irc.

I tend to gravatate to the larger networks.
emule, gnutella, soulseeker.

Smaller network obviouslay would have poor file choice and available.

You mean FakeTrack (FastTrack, KaZaA), eDonkey2000 (eMule) and Soulseek? Learn the goddamn names! :P

But yeah, you're right. Use whatever works best for you. Compare the advantages and disadvantages of each network/client, and choose for yourself.

not "obviously"; usually the best jam comes in the smallest jar.

There are small specialized networks that may work better for certain people who are looking for files that are not very popular. Certain DC hubs are a great example of this; and certain smaller sites host a database for links to files that the large piratebay- or shareprovider-type sites do not provide.

bottom line is that depending on:
*how computer savvy you are
*what type of connection you have
*what system you have
*what filetype you are looking for
*what type of content you prefer
...and a few other things...

If you use a mac, MP2P sucks.
If you use Linux, MP2P sucks.
If you want to download a movie, MP2P sucks.
If you want to download a TV show, MP2P sucks.
If you want to download pr0n, MP2P sucks.
If you want to download software, MP2P sucks.

Besides all the (valid) reasons posted above I would have to add no recent development, connection problems, and uninstall problems.

It is MP3-only network and downloads on Piolet are extremely fast. For popular songs, MP2P is probably the best network of them all because there are few fakes and you get instant downloads. No P2P (not counting newsgroups) is anywhere near as fast as MP2P. It's also off the "RIAA radar" so far.

The only version worthwhile IMHO is the latest beta.

I can't say I agree with you. Everyone has their own preference. There's no one-size-fits-all within P2P. Accept it.

The only real problem I can think of with MP2P is that it does not work on a "firewalled" connection like a corporate LAN network.

No i just wanna say that mp2p is best and fastest network to download mp3's ...WTF? i have said that the reason can not be that it is an musik only network! if it was an network to all kind of files it would be slow! Yeah go mp2p ;)

There is no chance MP2P will florish with no improvements to its clients upcoming... It is slowly dying (hell it's near death already). The fact that people behing routers/firewall can't connect as well as it limited to a mp3 network, never helped anyway.

Good riddance MP2P ;)

mp2p is imo not very good. Its a music only network, yet it only allows single files download. If theres some way to easily download full albums there, and router friendly, then I might use it. Since it only focuses on music, they should think of ways to support albums downloading, though it might not be very good.

i second that..

get these people to stop screwing around with dead and dying networks. and put the files you have where people might actually be able to get them if they wanted them.

Poor you. You are even more hard working than people who actually gets paid. You even do it efficiently by doing it at a site than hundreds of people visit everyday.

You really love double and triple posting, don't you? Can't you just drag everything into a single post, like everyone else does it?
