I can't say I agree with you. Everyone has their own preference. There's no one-size-fits-all within P2P. Accept it.

So, it begs the question...

What exactly is it good for?

The top 5 benefits of using MP2P are:

1. ???????
2. ???????
3. ???????
4. ???????
5. ???????

People please try to get along???

The beauty of freedom is choice. All of us might take this for granted when influencing our opinions. As programs evolve some get better some fade away. For those who like this program I ask those who do not to tolerate their views instead of dissing it. Show the programs weaknesses so those who operate can find ways to improve it.

I don't use it (anymore), but:

1. Specialised in music (That may be negative to some..)
2. Low on the RIAA/Copyright police scope.
3. Low fake:legit ratio.
4. Client(s) (specifically the Piolet Beta) capable of encrypting data sent - whilst retaining a good speed of transfer.
5. Erm..

IMO, it doesn't make it particulary 'special' as similar comparisons could be made for other networks..

.. but, the possibiliy of a general use Music only network, complete with encrypted transfer really is an appealing prospect.

If only development had continued.. UPnP in the last beta would've done ALOT to entice growth, IMO.

Does anyone know what happened to the MP2P creator, Pablo? He seemed to disappear 2 year back. :/

Rumours of health probs.. ? e4.

As for '*my network is better then yours' or '*the {network} network sux!11!!?1' - Grow up.

Sure, you're entitled to your opinion - but stating* it as fact shows ignorance.

Good point, unfortunately.

e2.

Interesting what you find on the big 'ole WWW . :P

http://openlito.sourceforge.net/

This could do wonders to kick start the network.

e3.

There's no obvious sign of just how many % they're through reversing the protocol. :(

e5.

Nuggets of info for anyone that cares: Blubster and McAfee did a deal a few (2/3) years back e6. and apparently Music Space showed an interest in Pablos talents. (2005)

e7.

Confusion arose when I saw Sato and Soto used. :/ e8. Add 'Grove' to the list.

Indeed, it is Soto. :o

And this is his blog.

e9.

MP2P.net - Is down, no estimation of how long.

Folks, I'm a little confused. I thought this forum was for people that used MP2P. It seems nearly everyone posting here (including me) are not users.

On the other hand, the thread title was a direct invitation to everyone to come here and bash the program. Very poor judgement on the part of the thread starter IMO.

Well, the reason for this is simple.

_Mp2p_ has started so many different threads about MP2P recently that it grabbed my attention - I don't know anything about it, not a thing.

Well, I know a bit now, thanks to beasty

Pablo Sato was involved with Wayne Russo and Andy Lack and a group of Spanish Lawyers in creating Mashboxx but dropped out of the deal early 2005 .

Probably why Mashboxx still remians as vaporware today.

i used to use mp2p quite some time ago with a firewall and it worked but since i think the 1.05 update it never worked for me. i actually found it great for music for a time all sorts but dicided after reading this thread to disable the ol firewall for a min and try it out.

I have to say since i last used it the file availability has greatly decreased i searched for dance hiphop top 40 and rock found alot of hiphop and top40 stuff. when i used this network u wanted rare stuff and it was here now its just like a gnuttella with a worse client and music only with less files, cant comment on the fakes.

and the main thing is i would not use any app without a firewall ( i only disabled for research purposes there)

bottom line is it may suit you _Mp2p_ but given the chocie of similar apps i would choose the Gnutella option any day.

Good riddance MP2P ;)

I just had to reply to this, I'm behind a router and I connect fine.

Don't generalize because something doesn't work for you.
