You can vote and see if it will persuade Pablo.

While Pablo might be willing, Optisoft most likely will not...

Lol, somehow MP2P and WPNP are both going the same path - claimed to add a lot of features, released public betas and ... nothing. While WinMX' loss is for me __personally__ not a loss, Piolet has one difference - it is like napst0r. And that means that only music is shared there. Unless Pablo releases his anonymous version I'll stick with Raza/slsk

OpenSource implementation? Unless the protocol is somehow encrypted it should be relatively easy to reverse-engineer the protocol. But that will mean that everything, not only music will be shared and the Queen (Optisoft) won't be amaized. They will break compatibility ASAP. Maybe such a client will be good for the development though - eMule made eDonkey become usable again and due to Shareaza's efforts BearShare began adding useful features (magnet:?, alt-src) :)
Windows? Blah. Linux? Blah. BSD? Blah.
Just make sure you have a computer licence and I can open your fsckin files.

Much of MP2P has already been reverse-engineered (it was fairly simple). However, each MP2P packet includes a 16-bit checksum field used to ensure the integrity of the data. The checksum must be correct or the official MP2P clients will discard the packet, so reverse-engineering the checksum algorithm is necessary to develop a working MP2P client. Unfortunately, this is not exactly trivial.

An official open-source client would be welcome.

It might be sensible to open source p2p protocols if depending on MGM vs Grokster .If the source code is in the wild first it cant be shut down by the **AA's and secondly it takes away the liaability from the developers especialy if the source and app are released on the network .

I am not going to complain about what you think I am complaining about. I am wondering what the hell's wrong with mendocino? I loved that place last time I was there... :P

btw I hope the next piolet comes out eventually. that would be nice.
