problem with Peerblock and Iblocklist

Postby no_body_here » Fri Mar 07, 2014 4:44 pm

I am very new and I have to tell what has happened to me with Peerblock and Iblocklist.
Last month on 12/2/2013, I paid the $9.99 fee to start a year subscription to PeerBlock.
By e-mail, I received the Username and password. I installed the PeerBlock 1.2 and then installed the name and password.
The All Default list checks was checked and then the lists were download to my computer. Then the problems started.

The first download list was 1,015,170,034 IPs. Today March 7, 2014, the list is still 1,015,170,034 IPs !!!!!!!!!!
NO increase for a month !! I sent 4 or 5 e-mails in English and I received two e-mails. One asked more information and I sent all the information I could. The second said they did not understand my problem or my English e-mails !!!

To all that read this, DO NOT SEND YOUR MONEY TO Peerblock or I-blocklist. It's your lost money. :x

Typically in many of these cases, there is a communication problem, whether that be them not receiving your emails, or something else. I will try to contact them to see if they respond. I will point them to your concerns and see if they wish to address it themselves here on Slyck.

We'd hate to have an instance of possible miscommunication be a statement for everyone to go by as in "DO NOT SEND YOUR MONEY TO Peerblock or I-blocklist. It's your lost money", unless we are able to hear both sides and see if there is a very simple resolution to the issue you are having.

I'll post an update once I have one.

I received your message no_body_here (which I responded to), and as an example for you, here's a link to a similar situation in which both parties were able to resolve the issue very easily... :) Let's hope you will have the same luck.

If no body here has received an email from I-blocklist, who did?

And more importantly, who's on first?

Last night at 3:00 am, I received a e-mail from Iblocklist's General manager stating he is looking into what may be causing the problem. Today at Sat, at 2:45pm, I have not heard any thing from Iblocklist manager yet. Also "who's on first" was great.

Did you respond back to their email, more than once (keeping the pressure on them)?

Ok, good, let me know if you hear back. You may want to point them to this thread on Slyck (send them a link to this), so they are aware that the issue is being displayed for all to see, pending a resolution. I did show them in my email, but it may also have a good impact if you do the same since it is something you need to address with them.

Iblocklist General Manager send a e-mail stating "I will send you a refund if you like. I don't have time for your harassing e-mail."
That's fine with me. That new Peerblock program never worked right anyway.

Take your refund money and run.

These IP blocklists are a complete waste of money and they don't work. Snake oil.

They are like a condom that tries to block each individual sperm by identifying them in advance and putting a plug in each individual cell to stop it squirting. Only one has to get through and your screwed.

Spend your money on a VPN and block everything right from the get go.

At least you got a response, and you have a resolution, which is what you were trying to accomplish.

agreed. there are countless holes in them in spite of containing one out of every four IPv4 addresses on the planet, which (and it shouldn't take a rocket scientist to figure this part out) contain lots of innocent users who could have been a peer for u.

I used Peerblock and a VPN. Although Peerblock was not perfect for protection from the internet, it was better than nothing. Using both, it was great. That is my opinion.
Has for getting my money back, I will believe it when it's in my hand.
Have a nice day !

That's same thing I do not understand about Peerblock. When Peerblock was FREE, it worked fine, although in Feb, every year, there was no updates from Iblocklist. I think they were on vacation. Then about 2 months ago, Peerblock and Iblocklist started charging $9.99 per year. From then on, for me, Peerblock and Iblocklist never worked correctly.
