DMCA take downs and fake uploads at war

Postby zbeast » Tue Dec 31, 2013 2:03 pm

Have you noticed this.
There's some company or asshole bot that uploads lot's of fake files to a few of the torrent sites
out there that don't seem to want to fight it at all.
I speak of you "Isohunt." You can tell there fakes mostly because of the number of
seeds and peers, the name of the files and the size of the files that these fakes have also
they get posted weeks or months before the real film is out.

Then there's the take down notices,Automated they would have to be send out that many notices plus
that many links in each notice. 200+

This is an example of one.
99.995 of all the files on this page are fakes.

Then Google has there automated system delete the links to the fakes from there search engine.
One week later this cycle starts all over again.

This has to be one of the craziest circle jerks I've ever seen.

What is the point? Your keeping people busying writing regex filters someones trying to get the dmca takedown high score? WTF people.

Annoying but not necessarily chilling. You can argue to your ISP or in court that even if you accidentally downloaded a file with a copyrighted title, that 99.995% of those files are fakes and the probability that you actually shared copyrighted content is 1 in 20,000. It may frustrate some people away from P2P and torrents in particular, but the actual chilling effect is on DMCA and attempting to prosecute P2P.
