not to b!tch but was'n suprnove shouted down voulonterly by sloncek, couse he wanted to get800k daily visits to use exeem?

As I understand it the mpaa was going over their servers and checking up on all their mirrors. I don't know the full story. Where's FD when you need him?
I know the mpaa had Suprnova.org on their hit list. Sloncek didn't shut it down just to direct people to exeem. If that was the case he would've advertised exeem on Suprnova.org while it was still hosting torrents.

Come on people don't let this thread die. We need a list of sites that have gone down. Those that don't learn from their history are doomed to repeat it.

Added elite torrents to top post.

Seeing both Suprnova.org and LokiTorrent go down teaches us that no matter how unique a torrent site is, their viewed the same by the MPAA.
We need lots of torrent sites. Even if they're all identical we can't just put all our eggs in one basket.

Can some mod make this a sticky?

Why don't you keep editing your top post Allied, adding sites as they go? You could start by adding the Elite Torrents post you made further down. That way everthing is nice and neat, with all the facts at the top.

@ Allied - Any chance of adding P2P apps that have passed away?

Such as Kazaa Lite: <Back when FT was free of fakes....>

why doesnt slyck just make a section for anything that was forced offline, such software p2p, dvd ripping, hash sites, torrent sites etc..

or you can just put them all in this thread..

Alright, I'll keep editing my top post. I'll arrange them by date of death.

Napster and Kazaa Lite K++ added.

It'd be nice if people followed the format I'm using. It'll take me a while to find the dates when these programs and sites were born and died.

by tm,
I just wanted to point out that ShareReactor.com was mainly just a name change for the original website at Gowenna.da.ru (along with some cosmetic changes to the page). Gowenna.da.ru opened, if I remember correctly, in early August 2001.

The very first hashlink site was the site best known as FileNexus, which opened several months earlier, and it also had some previous names.

Where did you get the fall 1998 date of birth? I can't find anything about it before January 1999.

...wow you must have really loved each one of those sites. I mean just look at all the work you put into that list. So when are you going to add the finishing touches? You know, Born, Died, finding a early banner and writing a description.

ShareReactor was the name people will remember.

Added ShunTV.

I've added BTEfnet, but I couldn't find a banner or logo. Flipping through The Way BAck Machine, I don't think BTEfnet had a logo.

But if they did have some kinda art on their main page or anything with the name BTEfnet, post it here and I'll add it.
