Magnet links and Firefox

Postby carcassfan » Tue Feb 28, 2012 3:35 pm

I need help associating the magnet protocol within firefox (ver 11.0). Anyone figured this out?

in options/applications there is no entry for magnet protocol.

Have you tried:

Code: Select all
type "about:config" in the address bar

right-click on any link and select "New->String"
string name: network.protocol-handler.app.magnet
string value: /usr/bin/vuze

right-click on any link and select "New->Boolean"
enter name: network.protocol-handler.handler.external.magnet
enter value: yes

Restart firefox and you're ready to go.

Or maybe this:

Code: Select all
open a new tab, type about:config

Right-click -> New -> Boolean -> Name: network.protocol-handler.expose.magnet -> Value -> false
